A Redditor who happened by the Children?s Hospital in Los Angeles snapped a photo of one patient's amusing SOS: "SEND PIZZA RM 4112."

The passionate plea was apparently posted in jest by the family of 2-year-old Hazel Hammersley, a young cancer patient with stage 3 neuroblastoma who is currently undergoing chemotherapy.

Within minutes of the pic's posting on Reddit, the first order went out. Then, a few minutes later, another. And another. And a dozen more.
On the family blog, Hazel's mom Lauren described their reaction:

Hazel woke up from her nap to the smell of pizza and was so excited to chow down! Several other children and nurses came into the room, with music playing, and had themselves a wonderful Pizza Party. As of yesterday evening, there was more than 20 boxes delivered and more was coming! We had such a great time!
The hospital had apparently received so many pies that they were forced to publish a post on their own blog informing pizza donors that "NO MORE PIZZA IS NEEDED."
Both the hospital and the family were very grateful for the impromptu outpouring of support, but they also expressed their hope that this act of kindness extend beyond pizza to general awareness of childhood cancer.
Hazelnut (Hazel's nickname) has 18 grueling months of treatment ahead of her, and the family has set up a Facebook page for those wishing to follow her story or continue to show their support.

poor kids, at least they were happy and laughing with the pizza

First pizza place to donate more pizza will be boycotted by me and anyone I know, first to donate money will be my go to from now on no matter how horrible...

you can't argue with the smiles and this is awesome.... but the writing on the window is kinda silent hillish.

And sunlight can cause cancer. Put them in the dark! :tard:

We evolved in the sun over millions of years, avoid it at your own peril.

Open your eyes, broaden your horizons... :callme:

Please watch the presentation to help understand why carbohydrates increase our risk of cancer, and please share this link.

Craig B. Thompson, President and CEO of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, discusses new ways to think about cancer and how cancer arises in human beings.

Excerpt:

At 27:00 of the presentation:

"We are starting to understand it matters what you eat. ...It matter where your calories come from.... We now have good evidence in model organisms. If you overfeed someone with fat you don't increase their cancer risk at all. You overfeed somebody with carbohydrates and you dramatically increase their cancer rate and protein is halfway in between. And that is why we are going to have a huge debate about these carbohydrate based diets."

I meant no disrespect by my first post. I have watched first hand as the closest members of my family withered away in front of my eyes from cancer. The research over the last 10 years has really shed light on so many things we thought were true & correct as far as nutrition & health. All my post & views are back up by scientific evidence.

It is estimated now that cancer will affect 1 in 3 people over their lifetime, IIRC.

My best wishes go out to these children with cancer.

Nothing is so sad as childhood cancer. They are so innocent. Seems to spit in the face of karma, religion and anyother form of faith!

Great to see the outpouring of support no matter how little. And as Diesel said its definitely a contradiction to some faiths and beliefs. Especially since an innocent child is at the focal point if tragedy like this.
