I have a Bowflex as a fitness machine, i have heard talk that the bowflex is not as good as free weights, but i am to young to afford free weights and have to stick with my bowflex, my questions are

Will i gain muscle mass if i continue my workouts on the bowflex?

Should i just quit until i get free weights?

I have been workingout four times a week for the last year and a few months using the bowflex and have seen not many results, will i ever see results if i continue using the bowflex? or am i just wasting my time?

Real quick.

You know there is a recall on the BowFlex, right?

Dude, use your machine.

You're working your muscles, am I wrong? If you're working your muscles, you're training them.

keep up the good work and continue your game plan:thumbs:

My personal thoughts......I'd rather use free weights. IMO, I feel the machines allow you to cheat......therefore, you'd get bigger or better gains, by using free weights.

thx you have been of very helpful, so i should just stop until i get free weights, do you know of any kind of brand that is good and do you know what types i should get?(freeweights)

do you know how many times i should workout a week, i have been doing upper body workouts mon wen fri sun but i dont see much gains since i started a year and a half ago an you give me some tips to gain the muscle i have been working for?

A year of training and you should've seen results. What is your diet like? How old are you and do you have any health problems that you presume would hold you back?

A great book I've read recently is : Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle. Truly an excellent read. I would recommend you read and start there.

If you're looking to bulk up now...Yes, I would recommend you get some Creatine and a decent Protein Mix.

I further recommend if you need these two supplements you can visit this site.: www.syntrax.com

They're currently having a special. You get SwoleV.2 (which is EXCELLENT) and Isomatrix Reloaded which is a protien mix. You get all this for the cost of $45. This include shipping.

I'd also recommend you get some glutamine and a multi vit

Muscle Gelz Transdermals
IronMag Labs Prohormones
Do you have a "Play it again sports" near you? They sell olympic weights for about 10cents a pound.

No problem sweetie;) No sweat of my back darlin...

i have no health problems and i am 16, my diet consists of mostly protein

Dude, a diet consisting of mainly protein is seriously unhealthy and will also NOT help you make gains. You want to eat a balanced diet. I've only just joined IM, but ive been a regular visitor to IM for the past year or so. This site is a vault of information. Search for posts on nutrition (check out the sticky posts). This should give you some knowledge of how to put together a meal plan which fits your life style and budget

Thanks

Welcome to IM  What took you so long to join if you've been lurking for a year? :)

Hi Jodi,
No real reason for not joining till now. Guess I was just happy to read other people's posts, which answered most of my questions- no need to ask the same questions over an over again.
Ended up joining a few days ago because I feel I can make some small contributions to IM.
