So the quick version of the story is that I just got done having surgery on my left shoulder for missing cartilage. I will not be able to do any kind of heavy lifting (or even moderate lifting) with it for at least six months.

With that in mind, I'm looking for ideas on what to do for the coming months. All I've got so far is leg curls and extensions, maybe try pistols. Cardio on a bike or stairclimber.

Any other ideas for legs or one armed upper body?

Take it easy. let your body heal.

When I had my shoulder Surgery. It was pretty much cardio. and some easy bodyweight based exercises when I could start doing them. Pistols will be very tough until further along in the recovery.

Good lucky. Ice the shit out of it. Enjoy sleeping in a lazy boy, I think I did for 4 weeks.

I'm already sleeping in a flat bad :)

I'll probably do as you suggest and just go with some cardio and maybe some leg extensions or something.

Just going to drive me crazy not lifting or doing Jiu Jitsu for months, but that's what it is I guess.

Didn't your doctor tell you what kind of stuff you could do? When my brother had his he had to go to physical therapy and they gave him exercises to do there that had to deal with his shoulder, but other ones he could do as well. Last time I hurt my shoulder I took a long break and I'm glad I did.

I'm starting therapy next week, so I'll find out then. Was just gathering preliminary ideas.

My surgery was on my knee so not quite the same thing but, I'll let you in on a little secret: RANGE OF MOTION!

When you start your PT, make sure you concentrate on ROM movements. If you let the scar tissure build up you're screwed.

(Am staring at shoulder surgery myself in a couple of months. :nail: )

I'll be sure to keep that in mind.

Interestingly enough, we WANT scar tissue. That's what's going to be replacing my cartilage. It's actually a thing called "fibrocartilage" which is basically scar tissue from what I understand. I suppose we just don't want *too* much.
