Alright people, im about to do my final PT test and i have to run 1.5 miles in inder 12 minutes, 35+ pushups in less than a minute and at least 45 sit-ups in a minutes, and thats all nice and good and i do have the training for it but im gona be pushing myself to the limit with this test and im really scared and how do i explain it.....im scared of failure and shit like that, so some of you pros here give me some pointers for extra energy for tomorow......should i eat pasta or something high in carbs like 2-3 hours before i go do the test... is there a energy drink or anything like that that i can take so i have more energy.... just give me anything you know that is gona make me perform better tomorow...what should i do for more strenght and energy....?

Is this a military fitness test? Sounds like half the test the Marine Corp does. We had a "pig " platoon except it was called the pork chop platoon.:barf:

you wanna tell me marines run 3 miles in in under 12 miles and do more pushups in one minutes then there is seconds...?????
it is a Police Test....

((((((((((((((not 12 miles i mean 12 minutes))) sorry i did a few typeO's

We used to run 3 miles in less than 20 minutes and do pullups and sit ups. No push ups as part of the USMC PFT. That was back in the mid to late 90's. Man if you can run a 5,6 or 7 minute mile you'll be fine. Hell you could even run an 8 minute mile and jsut make it. If you are taking any longer than that to run a mile, you won't even be able to catch a crack head.

USMC PFT is 3 miles in under 18 minutes for perfect score, 28 minutes to pass, 20 pullups for perfect 3 for pass, and 100 crunches for perfect and something like 46 for pass, everything is easy to max except the run, as for eating I suggest you listen to a marathon runner and load up on carbs the night before and hydrate real well,

My personal best was:
12 minute 2 mile
18 pull-ups
120 push-ups
120 sit-ups

And some guys smoked me... not so much in everything, but there'd be guys who could bust out 24 pull ups and guys who were in the range of 130-140 push-ups etc.

I wasnt in the Marines though, they're a bit too harcore for me :)

Heres some tips QG - On the run, its all about breathing. Make sure you control your breathing and keep lots of oxygen coming into your system. You can micro adjust your speed to make sure you arent burning out too fast or going too slow.

For push-ups just knock out as many as you can straight off. Try to get into a rythm in the higher numbers though and lock out only when you need to. Once locked out (you're allowed to lock out right?) give yourself a few seconds... push a few more out... a few more seconds locked, a few more out, etc.

As far as sit-ups, I'm not quite sure what you're doing. You'll want to give your abs as much rest as possible in it and try to find a position that is easiest to reduce the strain on them. Knock these out quickly too and if you can pause at the top for a break lock on with your arms and position your frame to reduce the stress on your abs for a few seconds to give them a breather.

I never did as well in tests after I'd eaten solid food. If its pretty early in the morning, I'd just skip breakfast and go with a powerade or something. If its a little later, you can have a good strong meal with carbs and proteins but make sure its now withing three hours of your test. About 45 minutes out start sipping on a powerade. I'd suggest if possible you also hydrate really well the day before and the morning of. It would be preferable to do it several days before, but if you only have one day thats not really an option.

Anyways, good luck with that test and rock it hard! :thumb:

thanks guys, ill do prety good on the test becauyse im in good shape, i lost 10 pounds for this test and i think most of it was hard earned muscle but thats ok, my career depends on it...as to food ill load up on carbs and kinda see what my body has to say about it....i can do a mile in about 7 1/2 minutes but then the last .50 miles are the killer ones i just have to control my breathing and think about something else that is gona give me more power, but its easier said then done......is it a good idea to drink something like redbull or another kind of energy drink like an hour before the running ??????

alright [people if anyone cares i got my test scores today and here are the results!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Flexibility = 21inches , 100% ((better then some girls that did it))

Push-ups = 54

Sit-ups = 56

1.5 mile run = 10 minutes and 49 seconds

The result was between 90 - 95 % which is veryyyyy good
