My personal best was:
12 minute 2 mile
18 pull-ups
120 push-ups
120 sit-ups
And some guys smoked me... not so much in everything, but there'd be guys who could bust out 24 pull ups and guys who were in the range of 130-140 push-ups etc.
I wasnt in the Marines though, they're a bit too harcore for me
Heres some tips QG - On the run, its all about breathing. Make sure you control your breathing and keep lots of oxygen coming into your system. You can micro adjust your speed to make sure you arent burning out too fast or going too slow.
For push-ups just knock out as many as you can straight off. Try to get into a rythm in the higher numbers though and lock out only when you need to. Once locked out (you're allowed to lock out right?) give yourself a few seconds... push a few more out... a few more seconds locked, a few more out, etc.
As far as sit-ups, I'm not quite sure what you're doing. You'll want to give your abs as much rest as possible in it and try to find a position that is easiest to reduce the strain on them. Knock these out quickly too and if you can pause at the top for a break lock on with your arms and position your frame to reduce the stress on your abs for a few seconds to give them a breather.
I never did as well in tests after I'd eaten solid food. If its pretty early in the morning, I'd just skip breakfast and go with a powerade or something. If its a little later, you can have a good strong meal with carbs and proteins but make sure its now withing three hours of your test. About 45 minutes out start sipping on a powerade. I'd suggest if possible you also hydrate really well the day before and the morning of. It would be preferable to do it several days before, but if you only have one day thats not really an option.
Anyways, good luck with that test and rock it hard!
