postworkout shake choice

which post workout shake would u go for?

A) Homemade Shake
1 1/2 scoops zero isopure whey (150 cals, 0g fat, 37.5g pro, 0g carbs)
1/2 cup prolab carbpro (220 cals, 0g fat, 0g pro, 55g carbs)
1 cup grape juice (170 cals, 0g fat, 0g pro, 42g carbs)
 
totals
------
540 cals, 0g fat, 37.5g pro, 97g carbs

or

B) Nlarge2 (600 cals, 5g fat, 5g pro, 88g carbs)

totals
-----
600 cals, 5g fat, 5g pro, 88g carbs
 
I'm a little confused by your second post, lol...but post training you should have carbs so I'd have the .....oh wait, I figured it out :D Why'd ya do that, lol.

Ya sure that second one only has 5 g of protein? They're both relatively similar (I'm assuming your bulking) I'd be more inclined to go w/ the NLarge, just cause it's easier.
 
Post workout you need to get about a 1:2 or 1:3 ratio of protein to carbs. Protein should be between 30 and 50 grams from whey...this depends on your size...and then 60-100 grams of simple sugars...or if you are very thin or really going for bulk, you can go for 90-150 grams of carbs.

In this case your first drink looks better.

I usually have a White Lightning drink that has a 1:1 ratio. I workout in the morning before I eat, and not quite to full hunger by the time I leave the gym. Should I consume more carbs to get the 1:2 or 1:3 ratio? What would be a good source? Plus I'm trying to lose bodyfat, should I still take additional carbs? Thanks for the info.
 
Fredog...yes, increase the carbs. Use a fast acting carb like white rice, a white potato, rice cakes, or even white bread. Get your ratio to 1:2 while cutting.
 
i use twin labs Mass Fuel or Pro labs Nlarge for post work out drinks or food wise white rice 2cups and 2 chicken breast with 16 oz of skim milk.good luck,train hard:thumb:
