I don't want to go buy another casein protein supplement...I'm thinking about it but I'd rather not.

Is whey ok before bed? Or how about another lean protein source? (chicken, tuna, etc.)

I also hate hate hate cottage cheese and don't have red meat readily available to me very frequently. Would eating whey or a lean protein like I listed above hinder my gains at all? (trying to slowly bulk)
 
That is fine..... Just add a fat source as well to help delay gastric emptying.
 
Sometimes I just mix whey in peanut butter.
 
before bed, whey is fine but bare in mind whey takes 2-3 hrs to digest, casein is digests & breaks down in 5-7hrs, so casein is more benefitial. great point in adding good fats in there too like flax seed to further slow down the absorption process a little more to fuel your muscles all the way through the night.
