Home. I've got a power rack that has a lat machine attachment, a set of PowerBlock dumbells and an olympic set of weights. All the equipment I need and I NEVER have to wait for it. I don't have to deal with assholes bogarting machines. I don't have to deal with assholes in the locker room. I don't have deal with assholes on the road to and from the gym. I only have to deal with one asshole and I can take care of him by not looking in the mirror. :D

How do you like the powerblocks? I was thinking about getting a set. Did you buy them brand new? They are over a thousand with the stand. The ones that go up to 120lb.

They're spineless retards that are offended by real bodybuilding.

still don't understand why it would bother anyone...
most people are wearing headphones anyway, and are they really concentrating that hard to pretend they're a hampster in a wheel?
honestly?

heh, I've been 'admonished' for this in the past as well.... never understood it though.

I guess it could be bothersome to people if the grunting reach a level of resembling been on the receiving end of vigorous buttsex.

Absolutely love them. I got a price break because I bought them through the Air Force base exchange. The only thing I did wrong was not get enough weight. I got the set that goes up to 90's and now wish I'd gotten the set that goes to 125's. The add-ons cost almost as much as the original set. :(

I agree...more variety at the gym. Unless your Doublebase and have that sweet home gym set up! :-p They have all the fancy equipment and features I don't have in my small 1 bd rental.
Plus, 24 Hour Fitness has free group classes and a pool and sauna I can mix into my routine. It really helps to keep from getting bored when I have a bunch of options.

Does your gym offer a variety as well?

A pair just went up for sale on craigslist. I'm in contact with the guy. He wants 500$ for the Elite set. 5-90 with 2.5lb increments. Also includes the silver stand. They are a year old. I'm thinking about asking him to go lower even though the price seems pretty reasonable. Think they're worth it?

Has anyone ever tried lift or boot camp classes at your gym before? Or do you prefer to just stick to your own routine when it comes to lifting?

the guys at my gym that run things are kinda slow. i wouldnt have them right me a program. go off what i know and tips on here.

i mean the trainers, staff, and owner. i go to a small local gym. the trainers are very used to working with older people, the few younger trainers that they have dont know there head from there ass. also doesnt look like any of them have lifted a weight in years or there whole life for some. for some reason i dont think i would want a scrawny guy or a fat guy trieng to give me tips to get bigger or lose weight. that is just my perspective on it. that and there is a lot fast food eating that goes on wich i think is just stupid. when you are trieng to bost healthy living eating a double quarter pounder and large fries from mcdonalds doesnt really boast healthy eating to me.

i work out at the gym when im not lazy and home when i am lazy (or not at all when I am really lazy)

the only thing i really hate about the gym is small piss ass douche bags with big man complex. most of the time people at the gym i go to are cool. we have a few prics they are the smaller guys that dont know there head from there ass. one got under my skin today i wanted to pick up a 45lbs plate and smack em with it.

O wow to much gear! hahaha..That sounds horrible and funny at the same time! Ha! They really eat their fast food in the gym...you would think they have an employee lounge for that!

24 has highly trained staff members and trainers. It really helps when you feel like you are getting accurate advice. They are all fit too! I see you point tho, I wouldn't trust their judgment if they were skinny or obese!

For real...the personal trainers that are clearly not in shape absolutely confound me.

Not to mention how bad that is for support purposes if your trainer or instructor is in worse shape than you and not trying to improve their health! Is it getting to the point where you want to switch gyms yet, or you just going to deal with it?

personaly i dont care, i go to that gym becouse it is by my daily job. also the rates are really low so you cant beat that. the owner has offerd me a training job there before i just dont think i want my name being associated with that. i dunno just a odd business stand point i guess.

I like to train at home I only go to the gym when I need a little change constantly working out at home or the gym can get boring just like my work outs I need a change once in a while I may do 6 months at home an three at the gym.

So you will simply tolerate it because of the price and convenience, huh. :-p How cheap is your membership?

i get a hook up my membership is only 32 dollars a month. with that i get into any classes, i can go tanning and, if i have to take my kids its only a dollar an hour to have some one watch em. also you can see the day care area from the weight room. i used to go to the ymca, and i hated it to many stupid people getting in my way. at this place the worst thing i have to worry bout is fat trainers wich is really kinda funny. with gas prices being were they are my truck sucks gas the less driving the better lol.

O nice! I pay similar to what you pay...$29 a month at 24 Hour Fitness. Also get all those sweet features, which makes me feel like I get more for my dollar. Do you go to a big chain gym too?

Yea, I have a truck too....6 cylinder tho...so its like 20 MPG which isn't too bad.

07 nissan frontier nismo i get to date bout 16.7 mpg. the gym i go to is a very small franchise the owner had a couple others around the state. i think he has only two now becouse he said he sold a couple i dunno. either way nice equipment, and the times i go it is not busy. there are a couple gyms in my area the only big name is the ymca. we recently got a crap ass place called aspen fitness center. cheap memberships but you cant freakin move around in there, and there are barely any free weights. the have a shit ton of cardio stuff, and a few machines. waste of time and money i think.

Finally completed my dumbbell set. I now own 5 - 100lb hex dumbbells in 5lb increments. I had 5 - 50 for a year. I just picked up 55 - 100 off craigslist for a wopping 200$. I couldn't believe they were that cheap. The guy said he had 26 e-mails in 24 hours. I was the first one he called since I was the closest. I lucked out big time. Only sucky part was making the trips to get them in my 4 door sedan and then carrying them down to my basement. I'm happy though.

then carrying them down to my basement. I'm happy though.

damn i wish i had a basement, that would make workingout at home even more convienent with the space for more equipment.

i personally workout at home. but next year i'm going to UT San antonio and their gym is huge, im going to be in heaven. :daydream:

I like having a few things at home for cardio, such as a treadmill and stationary bike (these are especially nice over the winter). But for lifting, there is no way I can afford to have the type of home gym I'd like to have. Even if I could, my gym membership right now is $30/month and close to home; it may very well be cheaper to just continue paying for a membership.

6 cylinder? Never realized how good 20 MPG looks when someone else says 16...:-p

Haha...when you go to Aspen website, the word FREE is everywhere. LOL. Maybe thats why its free...because it isn't the greatest place to go. Haha. Did you try one of their FREE memberships on their site and realize how bad it was? Are they really small gyms? I like that 24 Hour Fitness has multiple floors so you don't feel all claustrophobic and have more room to do this...--> :mooh::mooh::mooh: Haha.
