I don't understand why all you NON military guys are getting upset. You are not getting the full story.

I mean, most of the military supports him and we're the guys getting shot at. Part of the problem, I think, is that this country didn't really have any major wars from the end of Vietnam until the Gulf War. You're shocked about the deaths, but guess what? That's what happens during a war. You're shocked that it's taking so long to get this country under control but you shouldn't be. No one said this was going to be easy.

Sure, the Administration thought that the Iraqi's would welcome us with open arms, and for the most part they did. They didn't expect the kind of resistance we are seeing now in a few places, but unexpected things always happen in war.

Let me put it this way.....If the US military were to take the gloves off it would be over right NOW. Alot of you are screaming about the deaths of our soldiers, but put it into perspective (I'm not trying to be insensitive here). There are more people killed in the US everyday by drunk driving (According to statistics on such matters, 47 people on avg die every day). I don't see alot of bitching about that. If you are going to be outraged at something, fine. Right now your looking at people that VOLUNTEERED to do, whereas in something like drunk driving most victims were just driving home, to work, to school, etc. (In other words, NON volunteers).

If you are intersted, check out the good things going on in Iraq. Just don't expect the media to tell you about them.

Sure it's a success. The plan was to attack, take the country, get Saddam, and hand the country back over. All of this has happened, or is happening.

As far as the amount of deaths, I wish they were lower too (I know guys that have died over there). Then again, like in my example, you have to put it into perspective.

Most of what I hear is that people are upset with the amount of deaths. They forget the original estimate we thought we'd take during the initial stages of the war. Now these roadside attacks and bombings and whatnot are troublesome, but like I said....take the gloves off and it all goes away.

There are reasons things are done the way they are. There are things that are planned for, and there are always things that happen in these situations that cannot be planned for, unfortunate as they may be.

A good friend of mine has been in Afghanistan and Iraq. When he came back from Iraq, he said the main reason for all the deaths is that they have their hands tied in a lot of ways to prevent civilian casualties. He also said what most military guys say...the media is NOT reporting the truth.
I'm not saying Bush is perfect. I sure as hell dont agree with a lot of what he does. All I'm saying is that there is more to this war than we get to see. Makes it hard to make an educated judgment on the job he's doing with the war.

My point was that if there was a plan, certainly it would have taken resistance like this into consideration before declaring major combat over. Many folk said that the resistance is surprising which I find hard to believe. I also highly doubt we will be handing anything over June 30, but if we do, it is doomed to fail. If we are going to do this, do it right, it is obvious these people are not capable of ruling themselves so let's finish the job.
