What is the proper form for performing bicep curls to ensure that the bicep is working and the shoulder is not doing the work?

I have been given the impression that standing bb or ezcurl bar is best for targetting the biceps, what posture do I need to focus on to keep the shoulder 'out', and focus on the bicep? (Someone recommended that I stand with my back and shoulder against a wall, 'pinning' the shoulders to the wall while I curl.)

Thanks in advance.

I think no matter how hard you try, your going to use your shoulders some. I've found that if I sit on a bench and place my tricept area on the inner part of my leg and slowly curl a DB it helps alot. Most of your isolation is going to be in your concentration. Did that make since to anyone but me?

I tried the DB curl the exact way you describe, but I found myself cheating subtly when trying to squeeze out those last few curls, LOL!

The nice thing about doing DB curls like this is you can use your free hand for a self spot. It's tough, but someones gotta do it. :D

Yep, there is "no such thing" as complete isolation, just keep it somewhat strict and not too sloppy.
