Is it protein or calories that put on mass bulk
I am told to up my calories for gains but I have 300 grams of protein per day.
I think that calories just put fat on you because people who are trying to lose weight burn off calories.
Please help!

The only thing that will go towards building muscle is the protein. Your body needs something to burn as fuel that is where the carbs and/or fat come into play. You also need a way for your body to shuttle the protein into the muscles that is where insulin comes into play. This topic people have written books on, just make sure you get plenty of protein with your meals. If you are doing Keto get some good fats for your body to burn, or if not get low GI carbs.

w8lifter can give a lot more detail.

You should also know that Protein also has calories and if your taking in to many calories, your body may turn the extra into stored fat as well.
Its almost impossible to gain muscle mass and not put a little extra fat on as well unless your BF is already high.

But like Craig said, you gotta have protein to put on muscle.

one gram of protein is 4calories if my memory serves me right.

1G FAT= 9 calories
1G CARB= 4 calories
1G protein= 4calories

p.s. im not so sure
