I've always wondered how many grams of protein/carb/fat in an egg and what the effects of cooking those eggs would do to the quantity of protein, i.e., poached, fried, scrambled ?
Any thoughts ?

Cooking the egg unravels the protein, this occurs when the egg turns white. However it does not evaporate, so quanity remains unchanged.

Protein of the entire egg: 6.25
Protein of just the Yolk is 2.85
Just the white: 3.5

Fat = 5G for whole Egg but 0 for egg white

Thanks.

So if I'm serious about introducing eggs into my meal plan, I should cut out the yolk ? Mmmm....not very tasty then.

Roughly how many calories are we talking per egg?

Why would you cut out the yolks? I wouldnt eat 6 yolks but 2-3 a day is perfectly acceptable and great for you.

I eat 1 yolk for every 3 eggs I consume, and I usually have six for breakfast.

Every morning I have a carton of EggBeaters and one or two whole eggs, scrambled in 1/3 tablespoon of olive oil. It's cool.

Add it up, 4 calories for protein/carbs and 9 for fat. I was doing 11 egg whites and 2-3 yolks for breakfast when I was eating eggs.

You have a whole carton? Like a pint?

My cartons were 18, or I'd buy a whole box which was 144 I think? I got sick of eggs VERY fast, I am lazy so I eat virtually the same thing from morning till night. I dont like sitting there cooking 50 different dishes, even though sometimes I wish I could have more variety. Eating takes such a short amount of time it hardly seems worth labor.

Yes it's a pain...Think how great it would be if we could eat every food raw. Breast after breast of chicken raw with nothing to worry about. Or even some kind of turbo cooker like the ones they had on back to the future pt. 2 or the fifth element. She put a whole chicken in, pressed a button and it was done seconds later.

I was eating my rice raw for awhile, 1/4 cup and downed it with water.

Where you asking me this Derek? If so, yeah saying a carton sounds like I'm eating the whole container. :barf:

One container of EggBeaters has six 8 ounce cartons. One carton equals 24 grams of protein, equilavent to about 7 egg whites.

That doesn't sound very good! :( I guess you gotta do what you gotta do to eat!!!

Can you expand on this? When you say unravels, what is the result if any of this?

I get lazy with my fat intake sometimes and will end up just downing half tablespoons of olive oil (for example 1 after each meal). Anyone else ever do this?

hell yeah i do it. also oats in an MRP shake are quick. no need to heat them up or eat them for 10 minutes. less than 10 seconds to drink that baby down. about 70 carbs in seconds. doesnt get better than that.
