Lol? Are you twelve? So you recommend 200 grams of protein/day to a guy that weighs 265 and wants to grow? Go ahead and give your advice and reasoning behind what you recommend this guy's diet should be to accomplish his goals, juiceball. I want to hear this...
Ok, I'll bite. But I'll require you to do some research.
Is whey protein a 'fast' protein? Meaning, is it absorbed quickly by the small intestine?
Just how quickly is whey protein absorbed?
How many hours are there in a day?
The answers you find to those questions should show you why numbers as high as 400-500 grams a day are ridiculous. However, I'm pretty sure you won't bother to search. You've obviously never questioned your own beliefs, nor had to defend them, otherwise you wouldn't have recommended what you did.
So, part two of your research: What percentage of muscle mass is protein? i.e. how many grams of protein in a pound of lean muscle?
Once you get that number, how much of the protein you recommended he eat will get turned into muscle?
Once you get that number, how much muscle could he expect to gain in one year?
If the amount that will get turned into muscle is a LOT less than what you recommended, you'll need to justify the difference.
My justification for 200 grams a day is based on limits of protein absorption, limits of muscle synthesis, and his estimated LEAN (not total) body mass, assuming 25% body fat, and includes a generous extra margin. I don't recommend more because there's no reason for him to feed the intestinal bacteria in his large intestine any protein, unless of course he WANTS his already large belly to get even larger from bloating and gas, and causing problems for the dog, who will undoubtedly be blamed for all the protein farts he'll be passing due to the previously mentioned well-fed intestinal bacteria.
Ok nature-boy (if I'm a juiceball, you're nature boy, -grin-), your turn to justify 400-500 grams.
