how long does it take protein to break down into a useable state in muscles?
 
exact times I can't say, but I do know that the different types break down at different rates. I "think" the quickest is whey. A quick search should pull it up, if not on here, then google
 
it depends if it is natural food or supplements...natural foods need more than 6 hours probably , supplements are absorbed faster.
 
Amino acids (BCAA's or EAA's) go from gut to bloodstream
Whey needs to be broken down to AA's, 15 to 20 minutes assuming on an empty stomach.
Whole food = hours
