Alright im about 5'8 153 lbs, im pretty skinny but a little flabby in the stomach.

Anyway, Im going on vacation in 4 weeks (1 month) and am trying to get in as best shape as I can by then. Ive never been a weight lifter to im entirly new to this.

After reading up on stuff last night I went and bought (Whey, low fat peanutt butter, low fat yogurt, low fat milk, strawberrys, rasberrys, beef jerky and two 20 lbs dumbbells)

Now starting tonight and into a first full day tomorrow im trying to set up a schedule on what to do. Mostly all im worried about is my stomach and arms in this 4 week period. (ill get into working all areas when i return from vacation) With what im planning on doing, is it good to comsume protein via whey and all the stuff ive bought.

If so, im wondering on the timing of when to drink protein shakes. before or after a workout? how long (before or after) Also how much reps and work out do I have to do to make sure im doing enough so this stuff im consuming doesnt turn into fat?

Available hours for me to do stuff (cardio or dumbbells) would be from 7am-730am (before i leave for work) or anything pretty much from 6 til 11 (after work until I go to bed around 1130)

I plan on switching up my food ofcourse but for the most part is will look something like this.

Breakfast - fried Eggs (low fat oil) maybe a piece of ham or somethign with it

snack - special k bar, beef jerky or fruit (which is the best?)

Lunch - Salad with fried egg inside along with some beef jerky

snack - special k bar, beef jerky or fruit (which is the best?)

Dinner - some sort of meat (chicken stake or tuna)

Snack - Fruit or Beef Jerky

And inbetween all this when I get helped to understand more ill put in Protein shakes.

so if anyone can jsut help me out with this it would be truly appriciated. Im extreamly new to this.

BTW Pushups, are those good to help gain muscle from consumed protein? because i dont mind doing tons of pushups if they can help a lot since i dont have much equipment at home.

OK Ditch the special k bars....way to much sugar!

Get rid of the fried eggs, make em egg white omlets w/ pam or hard boilded eggs.

You need some complex carbs in there...brown rice, wild rice, yams, sweet potatoes, legumes/beans.

You need some efa's...flax seed oil, natty peanut butter, nuts, avacados, safflower mayo, fish oil caps, olive oil.

Protein shake would be good after you workout with some carbs.

Watch the amount of jerkey....lots of sodium. If you eat it be sure to drink pkenty of water. And ditch it at least a week before your vacation so your not to bloated!

More veggies!

More protein!

is it really good to drink a shake AFTER the workout, ive been hearing this but something in my head doesnt make it want to click because I wouldnt be doing much of anything after I work out and it seems like the shake would just turn into fat while im just sitting around and sleeping.

Beef Jerky ill watch out for. how much is too much?

Also are fried eggs just as bad even if all I use is a cookie oil with no fat, calories, basically 0 under every catogory?

Also I thought rice was bad to eat when eating healthy?

After a workout, you need to supply your muscles with protein for repair. Hence the protien shake.

I disagree with the sodium thing. Its fine.

Most importantly: track your calories. Fried eggs are fine if they fit in your macro goals (and they aren't post workout)

Well the eggs would come in the morning. I plan on running for 15 minutes before work and then lifting for 15 minutes. Should I eat before all this, inbetween cardio and lifting or after everything>?
