I have read around that you need to have at least 1g of protein in order to gain muscle. I have trouble eating that much. What foods are high in protein? i do take one shake on the days that i workout, and i noticed canned chicken and tuna has a lot of protein in it...but that still leaves me 100g short or so. Should i take more shakes or what? Will the protein shakes make me gain muscle or muscle and fat?

have you read the sticky at the top of the forum? "guide to cutting, bulking and maintenance" . many options there.
just to name a few
chicken, turkey, all fish(even fatty kinds like salmon), lean beef, cottage cheese, whey protein, eggs/egg whites, lean pork, wild game(deer, pheasant, elk, moose, buffalo, etc)... the list goes on.

you are having trouble eating 1g per lb of bw in protein? Do you weight more than 350lbs??

lol, I dont think ive missed my BW in protein in a very long time. Yeah, but if you cant hit your protein numbers then eat more protein or drink shakes or whatever.

I can drink protein shakes whenever in the day, correct? like i dont have to drink them only pre and/or post workout?

Why not get most of your protein from real food like chicken, tuna, lean meats? I wouldn't recommend more than a couple protein shakes a day.

how much do you weigh? Also are you male or female?

eat more often. try to be eating a meal every 2 1/2 to 3 hours. make sure u have at least 20-30 grams of protein in every meal (aim for 5-6 meals).
shakes are not nearly as good as food. only drink shakes if you have to, or after your workout.

in my experience it would be hard to get fat from protein but if you were increasing your protein intake but it 'd make sense to drop some of your carb calories if you're too concerned.

protein shakes are a perfect way to get your daily requirements if you can't eat them.

the main thing you need to do is work it into your daily routine so you get an even amount at each meal.

Whey protein is my best friend. Becuase of my low carb diet and my large bodyweight, I use whey like it's a meal. Obviously to supplement my drink/meal, vegetables (dark green) go with it so that I can say that this my MRP. It's cheap too, as I usually buy a 33lb bag of protein a month and it goes for cents per meal. It's much more economical and quick.

33lb per month! i thout i was bad u must b a true whey junkie!

Actually I like whey because of the fact that it is fast, cheap and convienent. I would say those are my three chief reasons-aside from the fact that I weigh so goddamn much and need to get the protein one way or another to get bigger-and I refuse to juice.
