I have been hearing that you need real food protien sources along with protien suppliments. I am wondering why you need this balance? I know that whey has the highest BV and absorbs in a half hour which is great for post workout but dosn't give you a stead release. however, i am taking two muscle juice drinks a day to and they contain lots of different protien incuding casien which time releases for six hours. I find dieting the hardest thing about body building and the easy solution for me is just to suppiment a gainer and also a whey drink and it sure makes counting calories alot easyer. The suppliments I take contain lots of amino acids and i take a greens plus drink(1 ounce of wheatgrass juice has the nutritional value of 5 pounds of green vegtables) I also take a multi vitamin, CLA, and 5 spoonfuls of flax oil. Can i servive on suppliments? Can i keep making gains on suppliments alon? I will always have solid food but am interested what people think.

I think it's fine to "supplement" your diet with "supplements". That's exactly what it should be for maybe do 2 shakes, and 4 solid meals. I think the main reason is are bodies were meant to digest whole foods and I think it's just generally better for you. I'm sure someone will give you a more scentific answer...But I know whole foods burn more calories when digisted, and you need a variety of protein sources.

I notice when i am cutting that getting my protein from whole food sources tends to make me look more define (dry) and less bloated than if I use a lot of protein powder. I think what it comes down to are the fillers a lot of these companies use to bulk up the protein powders.
There has only been one protein powder that i have used that does not do this for me. It is a bit expensive but very good. It's from jay robb. His Whey protein or Egg protein powders have no additives. The whey is sweetened with Stevia only, where as the egg is swetended with something else. Still natural and no addtives.

it doesnt really matter if u dont use whey, ive talked to a few bodybuilders that
dont even use whey and theyre huuuge, i couldnt live wothout it though cuz sometimes im too lazy 2 cook
