I seldom see push-ups included in any routine, whether in this forum or in books I read. Why is this? Are push-ups somehow inferior to other exercises, so not worth it to be included in a routine? What is the advantage and disadvantage of doing push-ups?

i think alot of routines you see here at IM are more or less for the weight room, which does'nt mean you should'nt do push ups. they're good for warm ups or in a high rep high volume sense, you sure can throw them in your work out. disadvantage, well cant think of any off hand, with this one thought though, always use good form no matter what excercise you do. i'm sure you'll get more feed back in a couple more days from the rest of the crew.:thumb:

Push ups are too easy, for me its about 40% of my bodyweight to do pushups, so I would end up doing so many of them it would just about be aerobics, not bodybuilding.

Push ups are good for warm up and maybe for cardio vascular conditioning but thats about it

I agree, they're a good warm-up before a chest work-out, other than that they're just to easy.
