Ok, before I started hitting the weights a few years back, I used to always do pushups. Now, here's the question, if anyone here knows: I used to average around 400 pushups per day, at least 3 - 4 days out of the week. I used to do 20 pushups every half hour, but they weren't regular pushups. The kind I was doing was when I used to stack up 2 crates that equaled to 2 ft. tall total, with my toes on the crates and let my chest bounce off the ground on each rep. I weighed 220 lbs. and still do. I could feel the pain in my chest and arms, but it was/is that good kind of pain that lets you know you're getting stronger and stronger. Then, when I very first started lifting weights my max was 305 for 2 reps(this was my very first time touching a weight) 'cause my brother wanted to see my max. Now, what I want to know is how much weight was I pushing when I was doing those types of pushups? If anyone here knows, then please post. Thanks.

please you cant even bench 185 loser

Obviously Psycho has his own insecurity issues.

I do see what you're asking, although I didn't know at first. The more elevated your feet are, the more strain that's being put on your shoulders. It also depends on how far apart your hands were when doing them. If you want, you can try putting your hands on a scale with your feet elevated and that'll probably be a fairly accurate estimate of how much stress you had to put on yourself to lift yourself up. Of course, P-funk will probably know based off of his knowledge, so you might want to wait until a more experienced member posts.

obvously you belive some chick benched 300 the first time she walked into a gym

this is some 40 year old prev
i bet he wants your e-mail adress jr,

almost as brillant as the fools who belive the crap this dude posts

You are an incredibly stupid individual. So stupid, in fact, that you don't even realize this extreme mental handicap.

If you don't believe it, why post and support the thread? If you don't post, it'll be more likely to just go away. You're a thinker, aren't you? ;)

im just pointing out an ass clown when i see it...

so are you in 10th or 11th grade this year

Actually that's none of your business. From what I see, you're the only 'ass clown.' You need to grow up and start acting like an adult, unless you're really just some pathetic little child trying to be 'cool.' The thread starter did nothing unintelligent; s/he had an honest question and posted it; you were an asshole and still are. You've done this before, so obviously you know you're a nobody and want to make fun of others to feel better about yourself. I'm sorry for you.

I don't think I need to say anything else. Please stop spamming so the rest of the users can use this forum for its intended purpose - the assimilation of knowledge.

 all you do is try to start fights.......spammer...this thread and its starter is a spammer

and i think the 40 year old perv is falling for you

I agree with psycho dad, the chick claims she benched 305 for 2 reps and that was her first time to touch any weight. If you have at least a little knowledge of powerlifting the NATIONAL best in her weight division for high school is 250-255lbs and her max bested that by more than 50lbs. That just seems a little bit incomprehensible EVEN if she was the biggest genetic freak ever.

Wow, didn't read the post to full extent.. I really doubt you can push that much weight. Read her signature, max bp is 405lbs.. She would have to be on steroids and she would be huge and the school would notice and kick her out.

I failed to see where Deity goddess mentioned that 1) was a woman 2) was in high school

To address the real issue, I agree with squaggle...your best bet would to use a scale...make sure the scale is not on carpet though.

so go live it and stop making uneducated comments ;)

Alot of negative posts from some of you here. Wow, never thought I find this kind of behavier on this type of message board. To anyone that KNOWS the answer to my question, then please post. To the people that want to post something negative, then don't even think about posting in this thread. Thanks.

And yes, I will try the scale thing. I have to go and buy a new one though. lol

this is an odd comment, Squaggleboggin usually puts up well thought out posts, and actually tries to contribute to the forum, rather than just being an ass like some, or kissing ass like others....

Well yes it is more than mine, i'm 18 5'10''155 lbs 275bp,sq340,dl360. I did read the thread to full extent and my opinion was I find her claim to be hard to believe given what I know.

look dude just stop spamming

To address your question there are far too many variables-genetic makeup, nutrition, bodyweight, height, form, reps, intensity, supplements, conditions. Even if these things were known there would be no way to give you a definite answer.

Although I have read that on AVERAGE the bodyweight pushed up doing regular pushups is 80% of your weight maybe u can at least get a general idea by using some sort of calculation with bodyweight and reps for 1rm. this will be hard with the amt of reps u may have done in each interval.

There is not a direct corralation to the endurence and maxing out. The push ups you were doing required more tpye I muscle fibers, and maxing out uses mostly type II muscle fibers. So there is no answer.

no seriously. Like all exercises.. your CNS adapts to. Pushups wont get you stronger after a certain point.

Hitting the BP the first time, and maxing on 305.. the first time? I honestly dont believe that. The first time on BP most ppl have trouble balancing the bar, and others use shit form and dont let the bar hit their upper chest.

esepcially being a girl... no testoterone flows through your body and this results in a huge difference in terms of muscle growth speeds.

if you were 600 lbs of fat id believe it, .. pushing 1/2 ur weight for ur first time on the press. pretty shabby. Plus the massive man / woman fat boobs would really limit your ROM. Fat acting as a rubberband to bounce the weight back up. This is the only scenario id believe 305 was ur first max.

If you are a 110 lbs insecure kid afriad about asking nub questoins like.. how much can i bench if i do alot of pushups...then ask away. Id rather see an sincere idiot than a lying loser. I would honestly sit here and explain to you the answer to this question politely. No matter if you were steadfast in your lots of pushups = big bench ways... id make you realise 1 + 1 does = 2.

Its 1:15 am .. i was out with some friends just got home. We found a wallet on the street. We looked for id within the wallet, gave it back. The old fart who didnt show appreciation in finding the wallet was mad that we disturbed her sleep. But hey, the wallet didnt fall into the wrong hands. Believe me, that wallet had i think 2 platinum credit cards. $45 in cash, i kept modest and gave it back. The man's wife who answered the door was very unappreciative, why you ask? these where her exact words

me: "Does a Jon Doe live here? "
her :"Yes"
me : "i believe this is his wallet"
her: "yes" *shuts the door* ....

I was offended. At 1 am i took the liberty of finding the rightful owner. Not one word of thanks or modesty was shown by the person i had helped. Now that is another example of ignorance.

the exact same type of ignorance thats holding back the sincerity in not only this forum, but this sport and the rest of the world...

You have a goldmine of information here, people willing to explain to you exactley how to train yet you spoil it with another bullshit story "i bench 305 my 1st week of weight training". You think people will want to help you?

Stop being an e-lifter and hit the gym.

Psycho is absolutely right.

Lots of ppl have talked to me... 135 lbs kids claiming theyve maxed out on a deadlift 370. I mean im surprised they know what a deadlift is. I see other guys 135 lbs burning some ass in the gym. Theyre having mad trouble with light weights. WHO CARES WHAT THEY ARE PUSHING? I MEAN HES KICKING SOME ASS TRAINING ! IT ALL BOILS DOWN TO HOW BAD YOU WANT IT AND HOW HARD YOULL WORK FOR IT.

This sport is very self centred havent you noticed.. i can lift this much my arms are this big... who cares?

I have more respect for the man who tries than the man who lies. I think everyone can agree with me here.

my sister would do 2000 pushups EOD, and after 3 years of that she went to the gym to see what she could bench and she did 385 for 4 reps.
