I think this is a good test for people who can't do the 225 for reps test yet.

I challenge anyone who feels they have hit a plateau with their benching to ditch their normal chest routine for some high quality pushups (300-500 every other day) all types for 2 months. Unlike the bench press you have to activate, stabliize your entire upper body, so you don't just get a strong chest, shoulders and triceps you also get a stronger mid section (abs, lower back, back and biceps <diamond style>) which will help with all your major lifts. (overhead press, squats, deadlifts etc.). I know many people think that pushups are easy, but trust me when you are able to do high volume, in a variety of positions, you will thank your lucky stars you gave them a try... (hindu push ups, regular push ups, wide push ups, narrow push ups, clapping push ups, feet raised push ups, etc. etc.). Mix them up and do them in a circuit. :lifter::blagh:

If you have access to stairs you could start doing them with your feet on the lowest stair, do 10 then move up to the next stair and do ten more. Go up as high as you want (6-7 stairs depends on your hight) then start going down the other way. These are really fun to do... These are really excellent to do if you are unable to knock off handstand pushups. Handstand pushups are great but not many people are strong enough to do even ten clean ones (head touching the floor, body perfectly straight). A lot of people knock bodyweight exercises but the truth is most people don't know enough about them or have not pushed themselves as far as they could with them (myself included) because they are damn hard to do.:thumb:

Yeah, no hand pushups!

Somewhere in the 40-50 range I think. I dunno. Haven't tried to max out on pushups in a long time.

70 knuckle pushups, a different world all together.

Yeah, knuckle pushups are much harder than regular pushups.

Also, many people don't fully extend at the top, so they are doing only 1/2 or 3/4 pushups that makes a big difference too.

It's all about the quality...

Fingertip pushups are fun too, or even 3 finger pushups.

Only about 35 or so :(

Three sets of fifty every night
