I am trying to figure out a long-term solution to minimizing protein cost. My best bet seems to be to go with predominantly powder sources since I prefer to use at least 400 grams/day when possible.
I don't use whey, and will have bulk unflavored casein and soy on hand (unflavored to save money, soy solely to save money). I like the taste of casein and very much like its slow digestion rate (can go longer b/w meals if busy). I have plenty of protein shake ideas and recipes whether I have a blender or not.
What I am looking for are things to mix with dry powder and some liquid to make something good tasting to eat while I work or when I just need protein quickly and easily.
From the recipe section, I got the idea of using baby food and will try that if it is economical. I have also tried things like adding cinammon/splenda to dry casein and mixing with water/eating. Not bad but I am looking for something a bit more appetizing and some new ideas overall.
Basically I am a bit lazy and don't want to spend anytime cooking stuff. Just mix up powder and whatever else I happend to bring and eat it like a bowl of oatmeal (there is an idea).
I am open to pretty much any weird concoction and will eat almost any food. No other major dietary restrictions that I can think of other than no whey. Any other dairy is fine.
I am hoping to get my food bill down under $10 a day as a long term goal. I figure I can save thousands per year doing this relative to what I have done in the past.
For savory stuff i have tried mixing pasta sauce with casein and heating it up, but that I feel will get to tasting bad pretty quickly.
TIA.
