Hip Hip hooray!
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Ralph Nader is entering the presidential race as an independent, he announced Sunday, saying it is time for a "Jeffersonian revolution."

Ralph Nader is running for president as an independent.

"In the last few years, big money and the closing down of Washington against citizen groups prevent us from trying to improve our country. And I want everybody to have the right and opportunity to improve their country," he told reporters after an appearance announcing his candidacy on NBC's "Meet the Press."

Asked why he should be president, the longtime consumer advocate said, "Because I got things done." He cited a 40-year record, which he said includes saving "millions of lives," bringing about stricter protection for food and water and fighting corporate control over Washington.

Nader's decision, which did not come as a surprise to political watchers, marks his fourth straight White House bid -- fifth if his 1992 write-in campaign is included

he's a political boomerang.:D

He'll be lucky to get on the ballot where dems have undisputed control in a state. He was stripped from the ballot from several states in 04 (including my state of IL). The dems do not like this guy at all.

That being said he could actually hurt McCain this year b/c McCain has so many independent supports right now...exemplified by Vermont and Conn. Nader could actually take some of those voters away. The left will stand in solidarity behind Obama IMO barring a bomb shell.

no, you are gay and wrong

Nader is the man. Most people belittle him, when infact his action has saved alot of lives, from forcing GM to put seatbelts in their cars, to having a big rule in creating OSHA.

It's obvious why he is running: To spead his message, he knows he has no chance of winning. But if you're running, you can get on a nice big soapbox.

He didn't put bush in office, Bush stole the election.

You think thats what he tells himself so he can sleep at night

No, he doesn't need to 'tell himself' anything. The difference between him and 99.9% of politicians, is that he genuinely cares about this country. He's not out to get rich off of others misfortunes, or by corruption. He's been running for office for over a decade, and the main reason is so he has a chance to spread his message.
