Raw Oats

I've tried eating raw straight out of the container - not too good. They're extremley dry and hard to swallow. I put like 1/2 cup raw oats in my shake in the morning and it's excellent (blended).

I started putting Irish oats in a plastic bag. It is a decent snack at times. It is dry though.

I put Oat's in my PWO shake.. and can someone remind me - are on outs high on the GI or low, and what keeps your insulin levels spiked the longest. Something High on the GI or something low on the GI. Thanks*

Oats are low on the index. High spikes your insulin.

as for which is better, lets not even go there! :D

High GI spikes the insulin more than low GI, its not neccessarily amount of time it is quanity, but you could look at it in a yo yo versus steady slow release.

When you release large amounts of insulin over shorter periods of time you are going to metabolize that food faster, tending to store more of it probably as fat.

I usually have oats or piece of bread and a fruit (apple) the meal before workout... and I just started having whey protein with 1 cup skimmed milk as a PWO shake/meal :)

to dry for me personally...i like em cooked:thumb:
