Report: U.S. 'preparing the battlefield' in Iran

Like it or not, Iran has to be dealt with.

I still think History will treat Bush well. He had his share of significant mistakes, but he also had to deal with much more than most. I still really like GWB, even thought for now I'm in the minority.

Thing that pisses me off was the speech Clinton gave at the "unity" rally. "Before Bush, we were at peace...". Really a shocking statement that exemplifies the danger of a Democrat in the office during this time. I don't know why this didn't get more coverage (well, actually I know very well why). If "peace" time includes the build-up of Al-Qaeda & all the planning of 9/11 & most of the execution, it's really frightening to see how they'd deal with an actual castrosphe.

Israel attacking is a scary thought, especially with how soft the West is. Sad thing is that if we were united against these whackos, they wouldn't stand a chance. Iran is banking on the anti-war crowd/Democrats to dictate. I'm not pro-war by any means, but sometimes it's necessary.

Right or wrong (I tend to mostly agree) you speak with a clear, even tone using complete sentences. Though your post is that of a moderate you will appear to be a hard line right wing conservative wing nut. you exhibit intelligence having thought your opinion through. I really don't think he will be thought of differently, I think after this is all said and done he will loook worse.


Bush approval rating at record low *(updated)


Seven months before the end of his term, President Bush's approval rating is at an all-time low.
In the just-released Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg Poll, the president won approval from 23% of all registered voters -- including 3% of Democrats and 58% of Republicans. Those numbers are down from February, when he had an approval rating of 35%. His high mark, according to the poll, was in November 2001, just after the 9/11 terror attacks, when the president's popularity rating among registered voters was at 85%.
Perhaps the most interesting number is that 50% of self-described conservatives disapprove of the way the president is handling his job. But conservatives have been besieging The Times with complaints that the sample was overly weighted with Democrats. Jamie Gold, the paper's readers' representative, plans to post a blog response soon. (*Update: This is now online at the Readers' Representative Journal.)

Don't you guys think its a bit premature to reflect on how history will view bush when he is still in office? His actions and policies might become infinitely better or worse still...the repercussions of the Iraq might not be felt for another 10-25years, much like Nixon's (or Kissinger...whomever you believe) decision to engage China.

Iraq could be a success story in 25 years and people will say..."yeah we jumped the gun"....or maybe the admin will start a war with Iran and things will be horrid for the next 80 years and he'll become one of the worst leaders in world history (not just US).

Its so exciting huh?

It seems a lot of Americans put too much emphasis on the President when it comes to the big picture.

Yes, the Executive is the most powerful branch of government today, compared to the Congressional (legislative) and Judicial branches.

The President is mostly a symbolic figurehead.

Many of a President's initiatives are outright blocked, and if they are passed through Congress, heavily watered down.

We live in a globalized world. Outsourcing. Many economic factors. Many special interest groups. Many advocacy groups (falsely labeled think tanks).

Bureaucratic enforcement of regulations. Supreme court ruling. Local state laws.

Sorry folks, the President cannot "keep your kids" safe if you live in Nebraska.

"Protect the American people?" Oops. Sorry again. You better call the local police, and have faith in the FBI and the counterintelligence wing of our "intelligence agency."

This is one of my many criticisms of George W. Bush.

He appointed too many Jewish Zionists to major positions in government: DoD, State, NSC, White House, DIA, CIA, and even Chertoff in homeland security is an Israeli citizen.

The problem is, is that these people are using the positions and influence in the the US government to skew policy towards Israel. This hurts the US, and strains Middle Eastern policy towards the US.

Feith even pushed Zionism in meeting with Rice. Libby, Perle, Wolfowitz, Bill Kristol, and so many others I've lost count. You can find a list of these folks.
