Am I Rich?

?*Got $2200? In this world, you?re rich. Assets (not cash) of $2200 per adult place a person in the top*50%*of the world?s wealthiest.*

?*If you made $1500 last year, you?re in the top*20%*of the world?s income earners.**

?*If you have sufficient food, decent clothes, live in a house or apartment, and have a reasonably reliable means of transportation, you are among the top15%*of the world?s wealthy. **

?*Have $61,000 in assets? You?re among the richest*10%of the adults in the world.*

?If you earn $25,000 or more annually, you are in the top10%*of the world?s income-earners.***

?*If you have any money saved, a hobby that requires some equipment or supplies, a variety of clothes in your closet, two cars (in any condition), and live in your own home, you are in the top*5%*of the world?s wealthy. **

?If you earn more than $50,000 annually, you are in the top*1%*of the world?s income earners.***

?*If you have more than $500,000 in assets, you?re part of the richest*1%*of the world.*

I admitted in an earlier post that the government is corrupt. The elite are corrupt. I can't change that and it'll be a while before things change fundamentally. It may take a revolution and the start of a new government. What I can do though is focus on my situation and what I can do to improve it. I don't want to settle because of corrupt people and I won't. Even with all that is wrong in our country there are much worse places to be. Believe it or not you were blessed to be born here. When's the last time you were worried about how you'd get your next meal or where you'd sleep? If you're not worried about that then you're richer than most of the planet. You don't have poor people problems, you have rich people problems and things are far out of perspective for you because you, like we all as Americans are, are spoiled and lack perspective. If you're over 40k a year you're above the top 10% of wage earners in the world.

You can start the revolution. You can run for office, change things that way. You can lobby your lawmakers personally. Never say there is nothing you can do. That's admitting defeat without having tried. Which is worse? The person who won't take responsibility for things in his own life or the person who won't take responsibility for trying to make changes? They're the same. Neither one wants to take responsibility.

In Zimbabwe you're a king with $2200. In New York you're collecting food stamps and housing assistance if all you have is $2200.

Neither you or I are starting a revolution, or running for office, or lobbying lawmakers.

So I ask you which is worse, the person taking no responsibility for making changes and no responsibility for his place in life, or the guy taking responsibility for himself and not blaming the system?
Think it's pretty clear.

my husband is a low level chemical engineer...he makes 90k a yr...he started at 60k a yr with full bennies as a technician some 7 yrs ago

for my particular breed of science degree I wouldnt make more than 30k a yr because its all research for my field....stopping at that degree wasn't the long term plan but thats what happened.
tell prince to give him a job, we need estra-4,9,11,triene-3,17-dione with a higher conversion to availability

You've got Internet access, free time to argue with me, and probably enough money for gear and ancillary compounds. How rough it must be!

It's the same in my opinion.

I'm not living in New York. Plus, I don't work 24 hours a day so I have downtime to spend with all sorts of people. I don't have enough money for gear. I spend money on other things.

It's the same in my opinion.

For me, I'm good with where I am and where I'm going career wise and financial wise. I can't complain too much. If things continue anything close to the way they are going I will retire with millions of dollars and leave money for my children.

For where I came from, I have already beaten all odds. Things could be better but there's plenty of opportunity still in this country for an optimistic person who is willing to put in some work, effort, and keep a positive attitude.

I hate rich people, I work on their planes and if they have to wait 5 extra minutes for you to do the job right they will complain to you boss and try to get you fired, they will lie and make shit up about you to try and save money or get it done for free, fuck you for working a 24 hour day to feed your family I had to wait.
I hate poor people, quit smoking crack in front of my house, mother fuckers knock on my door and beg for change. get a fucking job and quit making excuses

Sounds like you're pretty blessed. You work probably 5 days a week and have 7 days worth of food. You probably have a job where they pay you a couple of weeks a year and you don't even have to show up(vacation). They may even give you free money to set aside so that you can continue to eat once you decide to no longer work even though you are still able to work(retirement). I bet when you're sick they pay people to check you out and prescribe you medicine(health care). If you're injured you may be covered to still get paid while you are not able to work(disability). I bet you've had a car in your life that worked perfectly fine but you took this perfectly good car and took it in for a newer perfectly good car(trade in) You are rich. You have rich people problems my friend. The only thing you don't have is the proper perspective. Mo money mo problems.

Admitting that does what...you still look at people and blame them without stopping to think they may have tried to do everything possible to be a productive citizen.

I would recommend you to read a great bok called Antebellum South...it will shed light on many things going on currently

I speak from personal experience. I came from nothing. I've seen others do the same. I've seen more do nothing to better themselves because they don't try or don't try hard enough.

What in your life are you unhappy with? What's so bad? How have you been held back by these outside forces that control how far you can get in life? It's easy to blame things. It's harder to put it on your own shoulders.

crack heads smoking weed in my alley, do we even need to go there, they will never get a job. make all the statistics you want and say these poor people are stuck but they are commiting the exact behavior that keeps them there. true story!

And this is a small percentage of the work force, almost 40% of the current U.s workforce right no is under-employed.

Regardless the mathematics behind an extreme concentration of income will always cause the poverty rate to rise after all where do you think a lot of that money comes from? wage suppression and the reduction of benefits, etc. financialization is the 2nd leading cause which then puts further downward pressure on labor wages as "profits" can be generated with out ever creating anything of value.

the U.S had a jobs shortage in the 60's and that was before de-industrialization and the financialization of the economy.

Compared to someone in a third world country I am rich. In the US I'm not rich. Not by any means. I get by and live paycheck to paycheck. I'm not angry about it because I am unwilling to work much more than forty hours per week because spending time with my family is much more important than earning a fat check. A good friend of mine decided to put all his spare time into one of the pyramid scheme businesses because it was explained to him that he would be able to spend MORE time with his family later in life. I'm there for my kids when they get home from school. I can help with their homework, take them to after school events, play outside with them, teach them to ride a bicycle, etc.

Could I or should I make more money? Yes. But not at the expense of my family.

I'm not unhappy...trust me...I do what I want when I want....

My athletic abilities granted me my ray of light....then I used my mind to attain higher education while my body was being used. Its all about position and understanding yours and figuring a way to better it.

The above is totally stupid from a common sense perspective.
That is the kind of thinking that the French Aristocracy had before the French poor revolted and cut off their heads for being stupid self centered inbred assholes that thought "let them eat cake" was the proper way of dealing with "those people" and addressing income inequality in France.

Asset levels have to be evaluated based on the cost and standard of living where the person holding the assets lives.
If you live in the U.S. ,if you have only 2200 worth of assets you are poor and in the poverty economic class.

LOL.
How far would 1500 net yearly income go in the U.S.?

Here's some common sense.

You don't have to worry about food, water, clothing, shelter, etc. In fact, you're on a computer or smartphone on the Internet. Much of the world wakes up and has to worry about food, water, etc every day. You have everything you need except the proper perspective and no amount of money will buy you that.
