Im curious every second person has a different opinion at my gym atleast.

When doing bench press are you meant to go right down to your chest?
or till your arms are parallel to your back?

Of course if your a monster touching your chest may not even mean your arms get to the stage where they a parallel to your back lol?

touch the chest unless you have some sort of shoulder pathology that warrents limiting the range of motion.

i cant touch my chest, my arm's lock up around a inch or 2 before i reach it. if thats the case with you then dont touch your chest but if you can touch your chest then i recommend you do it

Have you tried a wider grip?

yes sir, its about a quarter a inch from my chest with my index fingers over the farthest line but usualy i workout with thumb length from the center of the grip cross whatever lol so that i can get a overall good workout with my chest, deltoids and bicepts... o yeah though just yesterday i did freakin 25 pushup's in reps of 5 (run then drop do 5 run ext ext) and now today im so soar from it also my abs from doing 270 reps on the ablounge haha

I like watching people put on heavy weights then only bring the bar down a couple inches.

how come when people rep out like for competitions and all that they don't do the WHOLE rep they do less than half and bounce it off there chest? why is this actually counted as a rep? maybe they should just cut the rep count in half? lol

I think its because bringing the bar up to lockout wears out the triceps. Bringing the bar halfway up keeps the tension on the pecs.

What competition is that? All of the one's I've seen a judge watches where the bar starts and stops to determine if it is a good lift or not and they all have been from off the rack to the chest then to lockout.

i absolutely love watching these kids stack of 250-350lbs, who should be working out with 185-205

ass comes off the bench about 6 inches
bar bounces off the chest, and a spotter helps the up the last few inches...

if it wasnt for the fact that i only bench 205 for 1 rep

id try to give them advice, but they would only point out that they bench way more than i....

ha.....I dont enjoy watching that, really eats me inside. Especially when they look like the type that dont take advice.

I've always touched my chest until recently. My shoulders used to ache all the time and now that I just go to 90 my shoulders feel alot better. It would be different if I was still doing some pl'ing comps.

i like to use db's
bont really get on the bar much

never had a single problem with my shoulders
ever

i go a little past 90degrees, but not much

friday i pressed out 5 reps with 80's :)
thats big weight to me
