Full tear of the supraspinatus Jul 01, 2013....
recovery has been steady, weight training so-so

Anyone who has fully recovered have some insight?
how long before you get to beast mode again?

Almost 5mos since my surgery

I strained mine and it took over two months to be able to do incline press. I started using hgh, not sure if that accelerated healing or not but it definitely didn't hurt.

I had my right one repaired surgery and all. Hate to tell you 8 months before beast really. You need to be careful with you bench. Don't go to high on the chest I stress good form. But one good thing my bench went up 40 lb when I came back.

This type of injury really sucks because it takes away many lifting options. Like Heavy B said you have to be so careful when you ease back to the bench. Straight bar is all you get for awhile and you can forget incline or shoulders for awhile. Key is slow and smart when you start back. You will be able to do some tricep exercises which will help increase your bench once you baby step back in.

Thanks fellas...straight bar is all I can do right now. Yes military and incline presses are a no go...I know slow going is the best advice...

Sorry about your injury man I know how much my strain sucked, I can't imagine having to have surgery. I was fortunate. I hope you heal fast.

I don't know if hgh is an option for you and don't know if it would really help, but in theory it should.

Christsean thanks bro....it has been the worst injury...been off work 6 months now, but it is getting better slowly...

Popped the tendon off the bone on flat bench...tried to come in w/o proper stretching and warmup..3rd rep at 405 popped twice and buhbye gym time...

I don't have to tell you fellas, but that warmup and RC stretch are invaluable...

Sorry about your injury man... hope u fully recover, question.. did you have a lot of pain or soreness leading up to the injury, tendonitis or anything like that?

Not answering for him but in addition to him. Mine happened all at once. I let a dumbbell get sideways on me and instead of dropping it, I tried to recover it. Big mistake and I knew instantly it was.

I was just wondering cause I have had some tendonitis in my shoulder for a long time, at least 6 months and it keeps me paranoid to lift heavy for very long periods on it... thanks.

Same full tear July 2011. Two years before full recovery, and that was with religious re-hab regime, and smart weight training as my body permitted. Very doable if ur not too aggressive. Baby steps . . . GL

It's good to listen to your body, tendonitis can be your bodies way of telling you there is a problem.

I had Frozen Shoulder a couple years ago after doing lots of repetitive type work for several weeks. Lost range of motion, severe pain when making short upward movements across the bicep and couldn't put my hand behind my back.
I didn't go to the doctor for several months, just didn't do much moving of the shoulder and it froze up. I ended up having several months of PT which only made it worse. I ended up having a manipulation where they put you to sleep and WRENCH the arm and shoulder to break the adhesions. It helped with vertical movement but not behind the back.

No worries bro, I def learned from it, mentally and physically...I didn't have any problems at all leading up to it...I did throw my arm out 15yrs ago playing competitive baseball..enough to never play again, that's it...

Bad form at that weight is asking for trouble..
