Running b4 working out

Running b4 weight lifting? Not recommened I see, is that true?? I did it all summer and I made major gains, but are you telling me I could of had more gains if i Ran afterwards? My running consisted of at least 37 mins of fast paced running to make at least 5miles
 
As far as gains in muscle...yes, over the long haul you'd probably get better results from doing weights first and running second...and even better gains by running on opposite days from lifting.
 
hmm i just talked to the trainer at the Y.. he was like there is some conterverse about the issue of running b4 or after... he was like if you wanna lose weight do running b4, but if u wanna gain muscle mass do it after.. i just wanna get down below 10% of fat! hehe
 
the more muscle you have and create your metabolic rate increases in turn means a better ability to burn more bdy ft
 
What Tank says is true, and in addition, running after weights will burn more stored bodyfat as weight training will burn most of your stored glycogen leaving your body to burn energy from fat while running.

Even better, run first thing in the morning on an empty stomach to burn even more calories from stored fat!
 
I read a study that indicated that running after weightlifting was better at burning fat than cardio before your workout. I like to do light stationary cycling before my workout just to warm up. I think high intensity running for over a half an hour would be too draining to allow you to put full effort into your weightlifting.
 
does cardio mean running from the computer to the refrig and back cuz if it counts i am gonna be really buff in 1 month..ha ha :D :p
 
I've recently switched to using the stairlmaster in the morning before breakfest and lifting in the afternoon. Lost alot of weight when I switched.:D

hmm how the hell u guys wake up in the morning to go running i don't know but its freaking cold up in ehre and the closest gym in the morning asks for me to either walk or ride the bus to..

Well if its too inconvenient to go in the morning...at least switch to running after your workout rather than before.
 
I recommend getting the run in after a good lift. Save you energy for the iron and squeeze what you can out for the cardio!
 
From the research that Ive done it is good to do a small slow to moderate cardio workout before working out. As to 'lube' up the old body parts. Get everything all warmed up. After the mild workout its good to do stretching.

You think it`s cold where you are, come up here to Canada and try getting up in January for a am outdoor run, now that`s burrrrrrr.:shake:
