Hey, so my cut has been going pretty good (most days).....I was curious what the much more experienced people think about Salmon. Would Salmon be considered a Cheat meal during a cut? I know salmon is good for you and etc...BUT would it be considered a normal cutting meal or a cheat meal if you have a reasonable piece along wiht some wheat bread as a sandwish??

The way I prepare my Salmon is just wiht salt and pepper then bake it until medium well....Make sure you get the wild alaskan, instead of the costco farm raised BS...much better...

I don't count it as a cheat, but then again my cut has been called "half assed" on more than a few occasions.. Any of the experts wanna weigh in??

Why would salmon be a cheat or half assed? It's extremely healthy, just fit it into your macros.

Oh and why not the Costco farmed stuff? It's delicious, I love it.

I'm not calling it half assed by any means, I think its delicious, and if it fits, it's awesome.. But on many occasions my methods and suggestions have been questioned..
I know the farm raised costo stuff is pretty good imo, but some prefer their wild caught alaskan, which is a little better taste and texture wise, but hey beggars can't be choosers, between this fckin economy and the fact that any wild alaskan is frozen from last year, ill take what I can get

I dunno, I actually picked up that costco salmon today when I was buying other stuff, but decided not to try it, I will tho....I had other grocery store salmon before but just decided that Wild alaskan from either Harmons or Wild oats tastes a lot better when done medium well.

Salmon is the ultimate cutting food - fish is satiating, and so are polyunsaturated fats. The polys in salmon are EPA/DHA, no need even to convert them to the usable form.

Not a cheat unless you eat it like me. I like to make croquette patties out of cornmeal and egg and salmon and fry em. God....Wonderful.

I'm actually drooling over that concept right now, even though its only 830. Damn, personally I like it in a pan with a lil cooking spray, old bay seasoning and lemon on the side.. My girl makes them with lemon, garlic, dill and some olive oil in little tin foil tent bags on the grill.. Love that crispy skin!

Alright!!!! Salmon recipes. I like mine on the grill too. I get 'em from a guy in Michigan who likes catching them, but hates eating them, so the price is very right! With the skin on I prep it with olive oil then shake a bunch of this rosemary garlic onion spice stuff I have on it. I start by grilling them skin side up then flip them skin side down for the duration. This seems to hold them together better for the final grilling period. I do not eat the skin!

Before grilling, while I let the olive oil soak in, I cut up a medium to large size tomato and place in a bowl with some premium balsamic vinegar and FRESH cut basil. Stir a few times while grilling salmon. When the salmon is almost done, I spoon on the tomato vinegar mixture for just a couple of minutes.

This is one of my favorite meals!

I eat tons of salmon and fish while cutting. I just don't like to cook it in the house because then the whole house smells like fish so I only do it on the grill so normally it is more a warm weather food because I don't want to be out in the snow grilling.

We're the masters of 'snow grilling' in the Lake Effect snow band of Northern Indiana! I remember one Thanksgiving I was deep frying a turkey in a heavy snowstorm. The peanut oil kept zapping me because of all of the flakes that kept hitting the hot oil. I never put the grill or deep fryer away!

I just place the lemon slices directly on the grill and put the salmon on top of the slice with a bit of cracked black pepper. It prevents the salmon from sticking to the grill.

well, now i consume about 4 big costco bags of frozen tilapia per week, but i will work some salmon in that as well now that i dont have to worry about it being a cheat meal

That is a lot of tilapia. One bag from costco last me a month. Geez. How about getting some beef/chicken/eggs/pork into your diet? That is a lot of fish.

lol...no shit I use old bay too! I prefer to pan fry them with a good bit of oil, vegetable if I'm feeling frisky, lately its been olive. Never had them on the grill like that. I will have to try it. Explain how youre making the tent, and how long you cook it, and if you turnit over...? And are you just squeezing the lemon on as you eat or adding it to the mix?

I picked up a bag of salmon and bag of mahi from costco last night. It should last awhile.

Tuna sashimi is great on a cut. I've had it 3 times this week.

lol....how many times do you think we bump into each other at costo and in the city day to day?? Ur probably the guy I cut off then flipped of on I-80a a few times hahahah :thumb:

Under certain circumstances, icecream is not a cheat meal and rice is a cheat meal. It depends of how much you eat it.

I can't remember the last time I was on I-80. I stay in my own little area. I live across the street from the gym I goto so I don't have to go far.

Like Vieope said, it is only a "cheat" if it doesn't fit into your diet plan. I've had cheat meals with nothing but oatmeal and whey.
