Hey i was just wondering about deadlifts, ive never done them before and id like to start doing them because i heard they are very effective.

However ive never been shown how to do them properly and im concerned i might hurt my lower back if i dont do them correctly... am i right to be concerned or am i just being a little bitch?

get somebody who knows how to do them watch you. Go light and listen to your spotter til you learn your groove.

I just went to the gym and tried them then...i used a light weight then moved it up a bit and my back felt like it was getting a good workout

You should find pictures on how to do proper form or whatch movies do a google search, then pratice yourself with light weight for a while

You should def learn how to do them. They are very effective.

You should do them facing a mirror.

Hi Toughenuff,

You are "no little bitch".

NEVER not "be concerned" especially when it comes to the health of your back. Back injuries can be VERY BAD AND LIFELONG - you WANT to be careful and sane and still be persistant in your goals but you do NOT want to cause yourself real harm in the process. KNOW ALWAYS what you are about to do and are doing. Be smart and also concentrate on each exercise from start to finish.

Take Care, John H.

look at back from side on while doing it too,

maybe even set a digital camera to video, set it on the side and show us :D

Thats how I do them. Just like the guy in the vid above. Remember that recent vid of that guy (can't remember name). Strongman guy was deadlifting 515 or then he did good mornings, remember. He didn't do them that way. He was almost parellel with the floor when he picked the bb up.

Once I got comfortable with DL's I still noticed that at times my form would be off after 3+ reps, probably not concentrating properly. So, what I having been doing lately, is 5X2's twice. This would allow me to really try and concentrate on form, then recover and go again and I still get in 20 reps.

Peace:cool:
