Scared Shitless

Maybe he is sick and tired of shit, and wants some alone time.

Yes, I wouldn't be surprised if he's given up hope of finding relief.

I had to persevere for more than 12 years to find answers to my own metabolic disorder. You can think of the interconnection of biochemical pathways as a rather large string ball of complex knots. Changes is regulation of one or more pathways will tug at individual knots, but won't untangle the ball nor easily resolve the relationship of one knot to another.

Its very, very hard to figure out what is happening within an individual from reports of trial and error attempts to fix physical disorders. The best you can do is to search for common patterns of indicators for answers, and to examine lifetyle history to identify possible combinations of cause and effect - where lifetyle doesn't appear play a role in cause, then one asks if individual genetic suspectability to disease exists. In the latter case, this is the purvue of medical specialists, and is most likely far beyond the scope of plausible help from this forum.

Practical advice should not supplant professional advice. Medical practice is as much an art as it is a science. Not all medical practitioners are equally skilled diagnostitians nor have the experience necessary to identify and find treatments for all diseases.

Since people know you on here, I think this thread needs to be advertised more. Maybe we could set some kind of fund up, with all these members, to help you get well.
I agree. I can throw in the 1st $500 (five hundred) if someone will set up the fund in a way that the money:

a. is not misappropriated (this is an attempt to help one of our own)
b. is used for medical bills or living expenses (no trips to Holland)
c. can be anonymous (I don't want to be on any lists)

I had a hard time posting this because of all the schemers out there. I don't want to see some other member develop a similar health condition so i will only do this once and only for OTB.

If you are reading this and getting a larcenous heart just remember you really have no idea who I am or what I do for a living. Screw with this money we raise for OTB and you will be put away on federal charges. Because the money we raise will come from all over the country this will involve interstate commerce. Violating interstate commerce laws is of course a federal offense and would obviously be prosecuted under federal jurisdiction. Fuck with this money and I will fuck you up. True story.

That being said I imagine Paypal would help ... count me in. I will check in on this thread daily now. Whomever gets it going can have my cell number if you need my help with anything.

P.S.
I have all the attention I need so please do not PM me with anything but ideas on what we can all do as a team to assist our OTB.
Thanks,
Bone

Very well put Trouble that there are good drs out there but not enough drs trained in understanding finding metabolic roadblocks and then how to implement protocols on how to deal with them. Majority of drs tend to just look at the symptoms rather then the under lying causes. Pretty much what I have learned has been from researching autismn, cancer, aids, ms patients and will continue to carry on until I am back to normal.

any luck contacting his nutritionist Han?

California time ... not till like 1-2 pm out time bro

I just finished reading the parts I skiped last night ... damn. OTB you seem like your serious in your intentions just from the way you've changed your personal info and sig. I hope you made it through that period.

This has to be the most depressing logs I have ever read.

HAN, although somewhat misguided, was trying to help. I would NOT have jumped to the conclusion that there was a yeast infection. I would have looked to natural antifungal agents that are not liver toxic. There was no reason to believe that omega-6 PUFA was low, it rarely is in Western diets. Flax has plenty of both PUFA-3 and 6 - the latter is responsible for the production of inflammatory agents (arachidonate and its pathways product prostaglandins). Oak should have been on a modest EPA/DHA supplement and little else in the way of fats.

It's also painfully clear that his physicans were working blind as well.

Holy shit, what a clusterfuck. Sitting here, having read this thread from start to finish, all I can say is that I feel for this kid, and his earnest efforts to seek help.

Oakes last post is the most depressing one of the entire log. I hope he meant that he had found help elsewhere. I don't think he's coming back.

TRouble, he spent tons of money on best natural antifunguals but after 3 months they just did not seem to work. He did the anti candida diet gluten/casiein for 6 months, followed everything the nutritionist suggesteed with natural adrenal/thyroid supplements. You name it he tried it. He was on fish oils for over 1.5 years straight EPA/dha. The drs put him on antidepressants, try to balance his thyroid and adrenals nothing just seem to work. It was like his body was just resistant to everything he tried. The sad thing was is that he could not afford to have the proper diagnostic test to be run to get a clinical diagnosis. An abnormality was found but he could not afford to have a follow up test to see if the protocol he was put on was working or not. The drs only assummed that it was not and then just gave up on him. The drs thought he had lyme disease and pumped him full of antibioitics and from there it was a rapid decline. The dr's finally just gave up on him.

From what I can see, he had a stress driven IBS problem. God knows what his liver was like to start, but its went down hill, like you said, after they pumped him full of drugs.

The final straw was the anti-fungals. Holy christ. Liver and kidney killers, and he doubles his doses and takes it a week longer.

I'm hard pressed to believe he ever had had Candida. He did have bile acid and nonalcoholic liver disease, by the time he finally left off here.

Dammit, too much fish oil, again, can be as bad as not enough. People just don't to cotton on to that issue. In higher doses, without the proper redox couples, its an ROS agent in mito. Thats the point here - this guys mito membranes were probably fucked up real good, no longer properly fluid, and that stops the movement of the ETC and its substrates, screws up receptors, fricking causes ion short circuits in the inner mito membrane.

I'm also skeptical of this shit about alkalinity and acidity issues. You guys show me you can understand the nernst equation and know what redox couples are,and how they apply within reaction cycles within brain, muscle and liver, then we can argue whether or not he has proper redox balance - where it counts., in specific organelles.

More than anything else, this guy has, or had, a real need for someone to sit down with him and talk about stress and its effects, and then lay out stress management - and stress prevention.

Its stress, that the real key here, and with it, sensitization of NE and a slow slide of control slacking in the hypothalamus. That sends the wrong signals to liver, and from liver, to other organs. GABA goes down the tubes, NMDA kicks up in brain, spine, and intestinal muscosa, and there goes inflammation, the core of IBS.

You dose with glutamine, when you got tight junction issues in the muscosal lining, and you fuck up the tight functions in kidney and BBB. For all we know, he might have had glutamine dehydrogenase polymorphism, and that would have made him glutamine senstitive in brain, bang off the starting line.

All of this is water under the bridge. Better cross fingers and toes he's alive.

You have no idea WHO was cruising on AOL under his ID the other day. For all you know, it could have been one of his parents, looking for answers.

Muscle Gelz Transdermals
IronMag Labs Prohormones
So in lamens terms he short circuited his hypothalamus which caused signals miscomminication with other organ system and lead to a cascade of events. I fully agree with you on the cell membranes, I am going through phospholipid therapy right now to correct them as well. What he failed to tell you is that he was taking 3-4 TBSP of flax seed oil for a prolonged period of time 6 months or longer and he never ate red meat for many years, to balance things out. Then the wonderful naturalopath had him on Codliver oil which he had been on a long time after have taken all the flax seed oil. And as you mentioned I am sure ROS were running rampant and eating up his antioxidents causing his cell membranes to become impermeabile. All we could know he could have been using putting in his meals and then heating up in the microwave and possible causing oils to go rancid adding more fuel to the fire, but again that is only speculation. Yes with glutemine I told him start out 1 tsp slow, but in one heads who is ill more is going to be better. He went to psychotherpy for a few months but he could not afford to keep going since it was not covered by insurance. What really hurt him was he could only go to selected drs due to his fathers insurance and that they would only pay so much for the proper procedures. If they would have done the colonscopy right the first time they would have caught the celiac. The dr who we went to even admitted that it the biosopy was not taking in the correct location. This could have lessons the symptoms dramatically. You were right he did have excessive glutamate in the brain a year before being diagnosed with candida through a medical dr with stool diagnosis. They were contributing the glutamate build up due to the their diagnosis of lyme disease. As atlhetes we push our bodies to the limits and stress can some times over come us. With out identifying the warning signs we just ignore them and continue on eventually ending up mental or phyiscally over stressed. TRouble do you think that there is something that we can do to make aware of people on here more aware of the warning signs of over training so problems like could be preveneted.

This is fucked up. If I still get no data tomorrow I'll approach this from another direction and see what I can shake loose. If you're reading this OTB speak up man. People do care about ya ... and we are worried.

this is such a sad thread. i wish oak would come back. Han...anything??

Well for Oaks sake I hope he is just taking a break and has not done something stupid.......if Oak is actually reading this as we all voice our concerns for him and chooses to just sit back and let us all feel worried while he is having a pitty party for his hard times then I hope he doesn't return for our support. I hope everyone here would agree with me on this. Lots of people have concerns and even willing to help support him get further treatment by donating their money....its just wrong if he is stringing us all along.

too many signs point to him not being around anymore. sad. I think he's been one of the cases that slips through the current health care system. It's upsetting that he couldnt get sent up to the highest level of doctors in this country. There's no doubt there are doctors out there that could have had him in better shape,it was just whether they were across town or up at the Mayo clinic.....who knows....i guess we wont know.

OTB. I'm in Texas & my area code is (512). I'm not interested in appearing as some kind of unwanted intrusive stalker kinda nut job. I'm just thankful you are still among the living.

If you want to talk just pick up the phone when you see a call from my area code. If there is anything I(we) can do to help you just tell us. If you want to be left alone I(we) will respect that too bro.

Just please don't use a permanent solution to fix a temporary problem. Sometimes answers come from the places you'd least expect ...

BoneCrusher has determined that OTB is still alive.

Deeply depressed. Probably pretty sick.

At this point, its beyond my ability to unravel his problems, since I had no idea of the degree to which this half assed treatment of his had progressed.

Bone has offered to help kickstart action here.

Might be good to know if there are others willing to help.

Not sure what 'help' will be, or how much further interference his parents will tolerate, since his 'treatment' has also seriously affected their economic situation.

A plan might be to have his blood analyzed by a lab that specializes in metabolic diseases. Unlike most labs, they analyze for many metabolic, hormone, and factors (vitamins, etc) to assess physiological condition, rather than perform a series of specific lab assays.

I have no idea how much this costs. I do know that several blood samples would be better than one.

Once the analysis is done, there remains the problem of finding a physician, probably a specialist, to look over the results - which directly recommend treatment options, taking much of the guesswork out of diagnosis. OTB lives in the West near a large metropolitan / urban center well known for advanced medical research and treatment. It remains to be determined if there are programs (state or private) to help patients in need like OTB. I'm not even sure what we can do here, really.

This is not a recommendation for action. It is not a plan. Its just an idea I am kicking up.

If members here want to help, it might be a logical way to proceed - presuming his parents allow it.

I guess it's up to you members to decide what, if anything, you are interested in doing for OTB.

I may have a rational explanation. About a year ago, the dr threaten to have him commited to a mental institution so this hypothesis could explain alot. Metabolic testing that was done through an alternative drs. It should severe vitamin deficeincies, and candida overgrowth, and his liver pathway was clogged. Other then that nothing out of the ordinary on urine organic acids.

Much as suspected. He may or may not have had an infection (90% of all infants test positive for the *presence* of Candida albicans and its quite commonly found in the oral cavity of healthy adults.

Overgrowth requires a more careful analysis, using an Elisa assay and other diagnostics. Even so, 20% treated with standard anti-fungal agents do not respond; these often display symptoms of leaky gut syndrome (which I have described in detail at Mind and Muscle forums).

http://www.antibodyassay.com/index.htm

It may be that OTB has this problem. In the anabolics section, I mention the effect of dinitrophenol on tight junctions. Intestinal mucosa are an example of tight function membranes as well. Their adhesion and their role in the maintenance of micro-villi - the small finger-like projections of the foregut responsible for absorption of nutrients - is controlled in part by glutamine receptor function. GABA and NMDA function are associated with glutamine action. Glutamine must be converted to glutamate for transport. Impairment of glutamine absorption or a diet low in glutamine can cause derangement of the mucosal tight function cells associated with leaky gut syndrome.

At its heart, lies issues of nutrient insufficiency and irregular diet, poor sleep hygiene, sustained high levels of stress and anxiety, and other factors.

Given his liver problems, other means of testing for and treating Candida overgrowth (if cause was substantiated) should have been investigated (oral cavity and uritogential sources versus microbial infection in gut) and coupled with testing for both Heliobacter pylori and inborn glutamine metabolism issues.

A diagnosis of "clogged liver pathways" is obtuse. The testing I refer to is much more specific and utilizes sophisticated separation science and mass spectrometer analysis of metabolic intermediates - quite different than the assays used by naturopathic laboratories.

Weekly OTB update:

He's still alive and breathing.

how do you know this?

BC established contact a short while ago, per my previous post.

What is not known: the disposition of OTB and his parents to further intervention efforts on our part.

Oh my

I feel so sorry for that guy!! It reminds me so much of myself!!

I was too knee deep in shit like him. Thousands of symptoms that just didn't go together.. poor helpless doctors coudln't do anything and just watch me being tested and comming up with new diagnosis every week. But i had the luck and found my way out of it by looking at a great board www.askwaltstollmd.com

In 4 months i was almost symptoms free (hypothyroidism much better, gastroesophagal reflux was minimised, mental state way better, diagnosed candida wiped out, liver functioning much better, acne went away, finaly regained lost weight, juandice got much better and etc etc... beleive.. i had it all.. even the insane hunger, fatiques, anxieties.. EVERYTHING). I had luck i found the board really fast and adapted to the program of

1. Skilled Relaxation
2. Perfect Diet
3. Excercise

And who was the culprit? HYPOTHALAMUS.. that damn bastard when overloaded with stress causes the whole body to malfunction.. everything in your body can go bananaz.. especially endocrine glands ... like in the poor guy's or mine case.
My overload of stress was probably caused by antibiotics which created dysbiosis that made me feel total SHIT. Then it was a downward spiral of getting new and new symptoms every week. I tell you .. it was the worst time of my life.

There's really not much you can do when you start having weird chronic conditions that do not relate at all. No magic supplements, no miracle herbs, no ultra cool probiotics.. no nothing.. you just need to restart your body.. litreally RESET IT .. there are many many inspiring posts on the BB there.. just READ IT .. it's the most valuable treasure on the internet for people like me or OTB. Also great for healthy people who want to stay healthy for the rest of their lives.

Give yourself 3 days and just read the BB ... Dr.Walt Stoll is one very lucky doctor to have found out how to deal with these chronic conditions. I beleive this could have helped OTB a loong time ago.

But it's still not easy.. it takes an insane amount of willpower .. in my case it was worth it and i own the guy my life .... i admit.. sounds cheezy .... beleive it or not .. it's your choice.. i beleived and coudln't have done better ...

man this is fucked up,sooo much info being thrown about which is useful but all of it and he still isn't better

I really REALLY feel for this kid

Yeah this is exactly the problem. So much info, so much symptoms, so much diagnosis, so much deficiencies, so much ways to get "better". But which one of them is the right one????

This is the problem with all these damn modern ilnesses. They're something what the doctors never seen. Lol alot of them still think is somekind of hypochondrism. 2 doctors thought i'm hypochondriac. When i proved them wrong they didn't even had the guts to apologize and stayed quiet. Other 2 doctors watch me in awe when i show them the success i'm having ... one of them said he was banging his head against the wall the whole day and agreed with me on many points. Some guys take their lessons and some not.
One whitecoated motherfucker never did his homework and he basicaly put me to this state by puting me on insanely strong antibiotics that my body just coudln't handle. It set my body to a complete dysbiosis, then dysautonomia and i was flying in this shit.

Bah i still think they think i'm crazy. Well i just coudln't care less.. i'm on my way to get cured and there's nothing that can stop me. My whole body is becoming much stronger than it was ever before .. just because of following a MDFK STUPID SIMPLE program that can save lives. Just work with the damn body!!!
1.Decrease the stress on the body to maximum - that means RELAXING... but you have to know how to relax.. you should be relaxing in the alpha state.. you have to get checked by a biofeedback specialist to see if you really can relax in the alpha. Seein fruits of relaxation takes a lot of time. Sometimes you have to wait 6 months to start feeling really better.
2.Decreasing stress also means having the perfect whole food diet. No damn sugar - or any other refined carbohydrates. Do not use that much cooked food. Cooked food causes leukocytosis (called digestive leukocytosis.. search on it on web). Refined food also causes drop in leukocytic index (the phagocytosis abbility of white cell to eat other microorganisms). You wreck your immunity for 2 hours when you eat refined carbs. It drops by almost 90%. Eat supplements, minerals, essential oils. They will do you good. The whole food diet is quite complicated because there are alot of rules.. especialy when you have candida too !!
Sound crazy.. but it's damn science.. there are scientific books on it on Pubmed.
Just because of the diet i lost acne in 2 months!! Had it all my life since puberty and suddenly even after 2 weeks i've seen INSANE progress. That is a correct sign the stress on my body was decreased and the body started handling problems more efficiently.
3. Excercise. Move the damn body. Walk.. do light jogging .. just damn do something and don't sit on your ass the whole day. Our bodies need movement!

If you follow these rules perfectly you leave your body in almost perfect state so it can regenerate itself. The stress stored in hypothalamus will get depleted over time and it will get and is going stop sending out confused msgs to other organs in the body such as thyroid or other endocrine organs.

This is really THE ONLY way to stop such crazy chronic conditions like i had or OTB. Doctors only treat the symptoms and not the causes. They will find thousands of problems.. prescribe you thousands of symptoms suppresing meds .. but will never give you the answers WHY .. WHY this happened.. HOW
can you cure the root of the problems....

I feel sooo sory for OTB .. he didn't have luck to find the correct way of solving exactly these kind of problems ....

You're singing to choir. Also don't presume that some of us are clueless. You saw the practical benefits. I come at it from the molecular end, and thats not predicated on medical practice (which seems to ignore the prevalent science, being dependent upon the pharmacology for fixes, which is a dumb shit approach for the stress type medical disorders, but works nice for cancer and some inborn gene disorders).

OTB doesn't come back, its a moot point. Your post here might be useful, maybe along wtih a few points I posted, as a help to others.

Your MD buddy didn't invent this wheel and neither did I.

Oh sorry i haven't read and of your posts :) You say exactly THE RIGHT THINGS. BRAVO to you mr.Trouble!!!!!!!!!!!!! Gotta read more of your posts :)

Of course the other docs haven't invented the wheel. It's been invented long time ago and basicaly was and is taught at school. That's what my md said and also that md on the bulletin board.

But if you don't have the luck of meeting such people like you then how can you get at the root of the problem??? I found my way just 2 months after my problems got real shitty. I was freakin LUCKY!

You just can't beleive what pain in the ass was to convince everybody in my surrounding why i follow that simple plan and do not listen to doctors. Even my whole fammily got upset why i don't want to follow the doctor's orders. Ehm what orders.. those idiots didn't even know what were the readings saying and tried to put me on everything possible .. they didn't want to listen about the stress effect and had no idea what's the best way to loose it. They had so much stupid remarks especialy on the diet. I always told them that the diet is not the most important thing on this program and it only supports the stress storage depleting. They were bashing the stress theory just because of the diet. They thought it sounds so pseudoscientific. When i directed them to read about in in the medical publication they told me they just don't have the time. That they have patients to cure. They were so upset that I was the one who taught them and not they who taught me. Haha poor bastards... i met one of the idiotic docs some time ago in the park .. i just passed them with a big grin in my face and wished him and his fammily a pleasant day. HAHA he was blushing :D

Even my girlfriend had her doubts from the beginning. But when she saw how i looked better so fast and LOL how i had 100x more energy in the bed she agreed that there must be something to it. Now for 5 months she also follows few rules of a healthy life program and we excercise together and relax together. She was always quite healthy (nobody in the world is 100% healthy) but it has magnificient effects on her energy and mood (she's atleast 70% less moody.. imagine a girl that's not so moody!!)

My health is sooo much better now .. my immunity has been qadrupled .. 3 flu seasons behind me and not even a single sratch in the throat... even my heart problems got so much better. My head is much clearer.. i can learn much better .. my system works like it never did. It's so much easier to deal with the life if your body isn't a burden to you. I've still got a bit of a way to go to be completly healthy but it's not a problem.. i'm on my road to healthiness ;)

But i'm still a bit sad that i had the "luck" to be one of the few % of the population who can get into such troubles so easily. Some people can live unhealthy and in stress the whole life and never have any problems. Some have perfect genetics and some don't ..

The end :)
