While working out monday i was doing rack lockouts with 255. I didnt think i could get 2 reps but i pulled off 3x3, and when i was done my shoulder started to hurt a little bit. Whewn i woke up today it bothered me to move my shoulder in certsin positions. I tried doing a couple reps with a 45 pound bar and it was painful. It hurts right around where the collar bone meets with the shoulder(deltoid). any suggestions, will it go away

I had that same problem at one time ( a sharp pain...not burning) trained on it and around it for a year or so.....I finally took 12 weeks off ( recomended to me by a Doctor) and now I never have pain their.

Take a couple days off, lift light for the next week, and cut out rack LO's for now on. :thumb:

I had similar pains. Definately stay away from shoulder exercises untill u feel that ur shoulder is 100% pain free. If u continue to exercise with pain, it might turn chronic or do some bad damage to ur rotor and/or nearby muscles.

Make sure you always stretch it. I had same problem. Just took a break and stretched it. Good to go every time!

i can take about 4 days off but i gotta keep up the liftin, i got a powerliftin meet in 4 weeks. can i trian through this and take a break liftin light after the meet

Yeah go for it. After all, this powerlifting meet is really important. More important than being able to use your shoulder properly for the rest of your life.

i agree 100% thanks for the intelligent smartass remark dipshit

Yes it was sarcastic, but you're a fucking idiot if you continue to work out an injured body part. Or maybe it's not that bad, so you could work through it. How the fuck are we supposed to know? Don't forget, you're asking for an injury diagnosis on an internet forum. Wait, who is the dipshit?

Let's just be friends. But seriously, we don't know how much it hurts, what you are doing to make it hurt, or much about your shoulder or body at all. All I can say, is if it really hurts, you'd better rest it or you will be sorry. Just saying this because I love you. Let's make babies.

I had the same issue. It was an inflamed AC joint. Is it tender at the bump on top of your shoulder (acromion)? I stopped lifting for about 3 months and did rehab with powerbands for my rotator cuff and shoulder stabilizers. There's hardly any pain now and if i hit the Hammer rotator cuff machine before doing potentially damaging movements I'm fine. I also had to knock off the bar benchpress for a bit, just sticking with DB's for now.

Take three months off to let it heal. Focus on cardio and nutrition in meantime.

Also, check the form on all exercises that incorporotate your shoulders. Look for any place that you may have been using improper form.

After you've recovered, and are ready to restart your training, cut back to about 60% of the wieght (not your max) you used before you got hurt and bring it up slowly over two to three weeks. Add some rotator cuff exercises to your workout routine.

Make sure that you avoid stressing your shoulder in the next three months. Just because your not working out doesn't mean that you won't stress your injury. So, if someone asks you to help them move, just say no. :)

I've assumed that you can't afford a doctor. If you can, go and see one now.

I have a torn AC joint in my right shoulder from five years ago and an inflamed one in my left shoulder currently. I usually will just layoff of heavy training with low reps for awhile and the irritated shoulder heals up. My right shoulder is always in slight pain and surgery is the only option according to my doc. He said to only have the operation if the pain becomes too much to bear. It is only slightly irritating though, but I do have the signature torn AC joint bone spur protruding upward where the collarbone joins the shoulder.
