Like the title says I was doing some dead lifts with good form, from what I can tell. And I recently pulled a muscle in my lower back and I just took some time off. So I started back up and I was doing dead lifts and on my 2nd set I felt my lower back muscles kind of felling a lil weird but i carried on added like 20 more pounds and went for a 3rd and did like 2 and i felt pain so i dropped it and i had a surge of pain on the side of my ass just the left one. The day after i felt the pain from my lower back through the side of my ass all they way to the outer side of my knee and its been a week and i still have pain when i sit down, stand up and lay down but i don???t know what movements hurt it, it just hurts at random times and right now its hurting really bad any one know whats going on plz help in pain.

The pain was so bad I had to leave work and i got fired cause my manager is a fucking ass hole. Any way the doc said it was prolly a pinched nerve or the muscle is injured. Right now I am thinking it???s a pinched nerve gotta wait for the x rays to come any one know what will happen is the nerve is pinched?

Sounds like your employer needs to be taken to court. They cannot fire you for medical problems.....

As for your problem....with so many good movements for your lower back I don't know why anyone would do stiff legged deads....I'll say a prayer for you and all those that believe that is worth it.

What i don't get is why you kept on going after you felt pain. Then added more weight?? Why?? Pain is your body telling you to stop - don't take chances, especially with your back.

I don't think anyone will be able to diagnose you over the internet. You will have to get a diagnosis from your physician, and hope that you havent done yourself too much damage.

I do SLDL's quite often, sometimes very heavy, and ive had no problem with my back at all. I would question your form and your knowledge of training if you injure yourself by adding weight to the bar, even after admitting it doesn't feel right.

I hope it's nothing too serious and you make a full recovery.

1 - You said your form was good "as far as you could tell". Ie- Your form probably wasnt very good. Get somebody to spot your form, look in a mirror, DONT leave it up to chance.

2 - Like Sam said, you felt pain or twinge or something - AND KEPT GOING? Why? And why add extra weight? Thats just begging for an injury, and of course, you got one.

Youve probably pulled something or strained something in your back or posterior chain somewhere. Dont just get x-rays, go to a Chiropractor or Osteopath aswell. Xrays wont show damage to muscle tissue.

Just to put this into context, i recently had a minor back injury and its put me out for nearly 5 months now. Im only just getting back into training and im not gonna be right for a long time, maybe another year. That was a MINOR injury. One of my friends ruptured a disc about a year ago. Its gonna be another 18 months before his physio even ends.

Take more care in the gym next time, think about what youre doing, or this will happen again and again.

Thanks man i really appreciated it. The boss at my worked called today told me that my manager had no right to dismiss me. And today I went for an xray and the doctor said that just from looking at it he said it???s prolly a pinched nerve and it might require surgery, gotta wait for the news to come. I admit it was my mistake entirely but my back didn???t hurt it felt kinda stiff like I had a really good pump or something. And my form was dead on I had a 360 view of mirrors around me, but in the end it was my bad never will do it again.

SLDL can put the back in a very compromised position. Listen to your body next time.

I can't do them anymore.
