I hear so many conflicting ideas on this subject.

What is the best solution to good abs

My roomate thinks just working the abs will give you abs, but I disagree and think that it is a combination of both a good diet with low fat and intense ab workouts that not only work the upper abs, but also the lower abs as well.

Well you can't spot reduce fat and you'll never see your abs if you have a thick layer of fat covering them.

What do you think?

I think a good calorie restrict diet and moderate cardio will give you a nice set of aBs

If by good abs you mean visible abs, in general it requires working them like any other muscle, and lowering your body fat %. Something I *definitely* have trouble with. :(

depending how long you've been training you MIGHT not need to train abs as much as you think. they get lots of work when you train back legs etc (stabilizing muscles)

i used to do supersets for abs all the time. for at least a year i've done very little direct ab work and as i'm getting leaner - they're there.

not suggesting you not train abs. just saying in my experience it's a small part of it. diet and bodyfat are the keys.

Like most said, good clean diet! I agree you get somewhat ab work doing other exercises, but diet is the key! The polishing act comes after you lose the fat!
