We are supposed to eat every 3-4 hours to keep steady insulin and a high metabolism. We are supposed have steady sleep for gh production (8+ hours).
Which is more important? Should we interupt our deep sleep in order to eat or is nutrition more important? :hmmm:

Well you can get up in the middle of the nite and have something to eat. I used to have a shake in the middle of the nite, cause I was getting up anyway to piss all the water I drank in the evennings. I do not suggest you do that (get up just to eat). Instead, have a slow digesting meal just before hitting the sack. Cottage cheese with some PB or a high casine product. Sleep is very important. Do a search for meals at nite or last meal. There are lots of suggestions on the meal size and composition. Experiment and see what works for you.

In my opinion, unless you are freakishly large with a super-metabolism then you are better off eating enough during the day so you can sleep at night.

If you eat a good meal before bed, esp. something that is slow to digest (eg: fibre, fats, protein +/- carbs) then you will not need anything for 8 hrs anyway.

Sleep, if you wake up hungry then have a protein shake and go back to bed...
When I was 260 I never got up to eat.....sleep is more important

Exactly. Your metabolism slows down a lot before you goto sleep. The need for additional energy is obviously not as great when you sleep as opposed to when you are awake and active.

i won't wake up out of my sleep just to eat, although i notice on cycle i always seem to wake up in the middle of the night for a piss and i'll be pretty hungry so i'll neck a whey shake, cup of oats and handful of peanuts, seems to hit the spot, and actually helps me get off back to sleep!

Fist:sleep! you need deep sleep more than 9 hours.you need it to gain muscle.it can help muscle becaming bigger. The nutrition is second.

A while back I read a study the the University of Columbia or maybe the university of Michigan did, I can't remember. Anyways, they did an 18 month study on sleep and came to the conclusion that the average human only needs 4-5 hours of sleep, and that getting much more than that (7-8 hours) is actually bad and unhealthy for you. They said that getting 7+ hours of sleep a night actually lowers a persons expected life span. It was really interesting, but I still try to get the minimum of 6 hours. I'll try to find it again.

Anyways, just wanted to stir things up a little and see what people thought about that.

You can eat anytime......don't sacrifice sleep for it

Skimping on sleep will seriously hurt your goals.

Less then 9 hours of sleep increases cortisol and weight gain. Sleep deprivation decreases metabolism, testosterone, growth hormone, recovery and performance.

Sleep is essential.

Notice how it says "average" human. What they meant was "lazy half ass with no self discipline." Which is not like any of us.
