snickers bar for pwo insulin spike

it's less than ideal, but how bad is it, what exactly make it bad having a snickers bar (2oz) after a can of tuna and some cottage cheese pwo?

after all, I think it's high GI anyway ;)

great source of amino's too!! defenitly do it. be sure to keep a journal so we can be up to date on how your progress is going.

just to provide you with some random facts - snickers have a low gi - they are high in fat (chocolate, caramel, peanuts).... ! :)

So if you want candy that will give you an insulin hit, stick to those made from glucose syrup (think lollies)...

Although there is some research to suggest that casein PWO CAN be highly beneficial (and I know people who use casein powder PWO in addition to their whey), I would not go so far as to use cottage cheese.... I would imagine that it's solid consistency would cause too much of a delay in digestion.

If you did want some casein then some powder or milk would be better options.

Yeah PB cubs, or Reese's Pieces, or Reeses Sticks........I saw an all Peanut Butter Reese Cup the other day, its called the Peanut Butter lovers., some special edition thing.
 
I usually eat tuna pwo, cottage cheese is just for taste...

Actually, I eat alot of cottage cheese,I like it... :blah: :blah: about slow digesting...

I didn't know snikers is low GI, thanks for that :thumb:.

Now the follow-up question: If you had to (HAD TO) eat a snickers bar, when would be the best time? pwo?

edit : I don't take any supplements except Omega 3 fish oils. sue me :p
 
Tuna is not a good choice PWO either. Egg Whites or Whey is what you want PWO.

I'm not even answering that damn snickers question :rolleyes: Didn't you hear IT'S FULL OF FAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You eat the damn snickers bar but you don't take fish oil? Smart!

Ok ok, Jodi you seem to know what you're talking about, but: ;)

I'm not hardcore into bodybuilding (yet), so the difference between tuna and egg whites pwo I believe (in my ignorance) to be insignificant to me. What is important for me is eating healthy (snickers notwithstanding :finger:).

This last Sunday I said 'hmm, I'm eating healthy for 2 months now, no cheats, no deserts... maybe I can try a snickers bar and see if I feel bad, good or whatever. It wasn't a craving, more like a decision to experiment. This is where the question came from.

Ps: I said THE ONLY supplement I take is Omega 3 fish oils
 
Besides a Snickers bar isn't high GI at all...

You asked if it was a good PWO source as if you want to incorporate it into your diet regularly. No matter what the specifics, it IS CANDY therefor you have to know nothing about BBing to know it's not optimal for your overall diet. What's to experiment. Of course having one in two months as your only cheat right after a work out is not going to dent your physique. But that's not what you asked. :rolleyes:
