I was just thinking, I'm conscious of my carb, protein, fat intake, but what exactly does sodium do in your body? How is it negative? How is it not negative? Can someone help me learn a thing or two about sodium? (which i assume is basically salt)

It's not inherently BAD, it just causes water retention, which blurs your definition..something that can be corrected by increased water intake and diuretics...

Peace.

On the other hand it adds to cell volume and the retention can cause you to look fuller...

Peace.

So true. After my cheat I put on about 5 lbs of water weight. When I do this I just drink some coffee and all the water goes away. I also drink a lot of water with it cause the diurectic can make you dehydrated.

I have read somewhere that sodium can help you work out because the increased water retention works by the same vehicle as creatine. But he is right it does cause alot of extra weight.

an extra weight that can go away :) not an extra fat

This is true also. It can acutally benefit with cramps as does potasium.
