I met him at the olympic last year. I did not get to see him at the arnold though...that place was a zoo with the bench press thing going on....lol....

did you go to the meet?

If I remeber correctly, he told me he had some meniscus problems. Did he take token lifts in the squat and deadlift so that he could bench?

what is a bench suit ?

is that like a hand device in stargate ?

This is a sweet meet because it is a RAW meet and some of the guys that compete in full gear meets come out and do it, so it is cool to see.

Here is the winner Brian Siders (339lbs) who totaled 2200 (that is a huge RAW total!!). His big three were (squat/bench/dead) 785/605 (missed 635 twice)/810...he came back for a 4th deadlift as a token, he hit 840 but it didn't count...

and, for all of you guys that say that powerlifters are just fat......

Here is Sam Byrd (210lbs) with his 1730 total. His big three were (squat/bench/dead) 705/425 (missed 440)/600 (missed 650 and then missed 670)

enjoy!
Is there any site that has the offical raw world records listed per weight class?

I don't know? google it and see what you get.....it is all different depending on the lifting federation though.

This was held at the Mullins Center down near South West. Huge place, it is like a pit. I saw Bill Cosby there last year.

thats so funny, it goes from powerlifting to the bikini contest, back to back

not bad for a male audience at ALL, but still rather a strange combination.

What really impresses me is how flawless and easy their good attempts look. I've been concentrating on perfect form in my heavier lifts for a while now and I've found it's made a huge difference in my strength gains. It's pretty amazing to see a guy have 600lbs on the bar and go down flawlessly and make it look easy but then follow with say 625 and die trying - I guess these guys truely push themselves to the limit?

It is funny, everyone knows it goes Powerlifting, Bodybuilding, then the bikini contest.

RAW powerlifting all the way! :rocker:

In defense of Mike, he is also a competitive strongman and quit powerlifting because of people on the internet bitching about his lifts. The guy is 6'4" and hasn't been lighter than 360 that I've heard of, he is no weakling.

I am not taking anything away from him. he is a strong guy no doubt....but, i am just comenting on how funny i think it is about how much those guys get out of the gear....and how much i think it just made the sport lame (in my eyes).

I believe he only benched.

Yeah, it was a zoo. Not that I am complaining!
