Hey guys ive been doing my own little version of 5x5 routine for about 4 months now, i occassionaly switch up the rep/set scheme to keep from overtraining however for the past month or so since my deads and squats continuously get heavier my lower back gets very sore and it seems like i have a pump 24/7.. At the moment i squat on tuesday and Deadlift on Friday however i feel its about time i changed something, any suggestions? I was thinking about possibly deadlifting every 2 weeks however i realize that its a very important lift when it comes to development, any thoughts on this/same problems?

Yea, deadlifts are more important than squats when it comes to development so you maybe you could deadlift 2 weeks in a row and squat the next week. But i dont really see the problem with ur original plan.

post your whole routine.

Have you unloaded or taken time off at all? Perhaps your body is trying to tell you something.

yea, in the traditional (bill starr) 5x5 program you are supposed to load volume for 5 weeks and then drop volume down to 3x3 and cut squatting out of the middle day.

I find 5-6 weeks works pretty well for me. Any more than that and I'm ready for a rest.
