hi,
i'm looking for some advise and hope someone can help. I am always getting sore throats after training. I have been training for abou 2 years and every couple of months i end up in bed for about a week. I take protein, vit c, multi vits and minerals, creatine and have recently started takin zma. Can anyone think of anything i could take to boost my immune system and stop me getting ill. Also i only train 3 or 4 times a week. Thanks, ac
 
oh, sorry ac - no clue. Sounds like a doctor question.
 
Hi AC.Sorry to hear about all the sore throats.First of all,make sure you are not overtraining and/or under recovering.Both of these can lead to frequent illness.Are you doing too much in the gym...spending too much time there.Are you not getting enough sleep at night?If your training and rest are in order I would suggest you start supplementing with glutamine peptides(10-15g per day).These can be taken on an empty stomach or blended in w/ a protein drink.Although glutamine peptides are better,regular l-glutamine can be used,but should be taken on an empty stomach,5 gr at a time,between meals.If this doesn't help after a few weeks...see a doctor!Good luck!

I'm no doc, but you may want to try and workout someplace different for about a week. It could be the environment your working out in. (your gym may not be the cleanest place in the world). The airborne bacteria maybe causing you to have a sore throat. You also could be allergic to something in your gym.

I'm with gopro, everytime I get into an overtrained condition I find myself flat on my butt with a cold or flu. When you train too much and/or don't recover enough your imune system goes into the dumps and you're suceptable to every germ in the universe. Try to pay very close attention to what your body is telling you. If you start to feel run down in any way, it's your body telling you to back off and get some rest. "Working through it" will only make it worse. Being a hero and trying to "tough it out" in this case will only make you sick.

I agree with gopro and ALBOB.I used to suffer from the same thing.Once I started incorporating a low intensity week every 3rd or 4th week, I found my recovery ability increased dramatically.
