[h=1]Director of Mayors Against Illegal Guns ? Don?t Shoot Someone Attacking You With Axe Handle[/h]August 4 2013

Executive Director of Mayors Against Illegal Guns Mark Glaze had some interesting advice for people who were being attacked by someone with a weapon other than a gun during an interview with Chris Matthews.
MARK GLAZE: Very often somebody will come at you. They might want to have a fistfight. They might come at you with an axe handle.
MATTHEWS: Would you consider the guy with the axe handle armed or not?
GLAZE: Not with a gun.
MATTHEWS: I would consider him armed.
GLAZE: I have a word for him. I grew up in Colorado where my dad was a gun dealer, and a guy who shoots somebody who has anything other than a gun when they could have done something else like talk or fight with their fists ?
MATTHEWS: How do you talk to a guy with an axe handle?
GLAZE: Well, you fight him. You run away. You deescalate the situation.
Glaze, when asked by Matthews to cite a case in which he thinks someone claimed a ?stand your ground? defense when they shouldn?t have, Glaze was not able to provide one other than the Zimmerman case (where a stand your ground defense wasn?t even argued).
Stand your ground laws have become a national point of debate following George Zimmerman?s acquittal in the 2012 shooting of Trayvon Martin.

So I should give someone trying to attack me with an axe handle the benefit of the doubt? No thanks

new here, hi. getting my post count up so i cam pm. have a nice day

The legal rule of thumb is you have an expectation of severe injury or death justifies lethal force. Me? Ax handle + boom = me walking away. So simple even Bloomberg can figure it out.

I've got a suggestion for Mark Glaze: Let me attack him with an axe handle and see how fast he changes his tune.

Actually, Bloomberg couldn't figure it out. Mostly because he has an armed security detail.
