I just bought a carton of soy milk. I've never tried it before. What can I expect for a taste? How does it taste compared to skim milk? Does it digest well? I am somewhat lactose intolerant, so regular milk gives me problems. Will soy milk do the same?

Questions, questions, questions!!

Ya ever had soy protein powder? Soy milk tastes just as bad, lol. BUT, it is a decent alternative to the regular stuff. I find it a bit thicker than skim milk. I can't drink it straight up like skim, but it's okay in coffee, oats, shakes, etc. It shouldn't irritate the stomach the way skim does.

Hey,

I???m lactose intolerant too.
I always have skim milk, but I recently tried soy milk.
My mom bought this soy milk with vanilla flavoring. I tried it and it tasted good, which means that it???s no good for you. So I guess I haven???t really tasted real soy milk.

And obviously I???m not interested in flavored soy milk, I mean what???s the point of flavoring it? It???s being ruined, the whole point of drinking it is thrown out the window.

People are ridiculous. Like my mom yesterday comes in and says, ???hey I bought low-fat french fries??? thinking I???m gonna start eating french fries now (I haven???t eaten a french fry in like 2 years).

There are so many goddamn gimmicks out there for people like my mom. Low-fat this, this and that. I hate it.

I know my mom was just dying for me to say, ???WOW, great let???s eat effin fries all night.??? My mom would love this because then she wouldn???t feel so guilty about eating fries because I???d be joining her like a gluten. People are weak.

Dear Diary.

I bought the original flavor. Look at the label to see if it's good for you. How many calories, fat grams, protein grams are in 8oz. of the vanilla stuff?

I can't drink skim milk unless I really feel like making myself sick for some reason.

The vanilla flavour is just as good as regular. One thing to mention though. Try to find a calcium fortified soy milk.

The best kind would be fat-free, sugar-free, calcium fortified soy milk....damn hard to find though

i personally like soy milk but it is thicker than skim milk. i find that it works great in my protein shakes.

i like the flavor, but that's something you have to try for yourself.
regarding your lactose intolerance, no soymilk will not give you any problems, since it does NOT contain any lactose. lactose is only found in dairy products, especially milk, no matter if it's skim or whole milk. yoghurt is ok with many pepole, since most of the lactose is changed to lactic acid buy the yoghurt culture.

I just recently made the switch myself from skim to vanilla soy and I like it just as well. Since I've switched to bland cereals now (instead of my Fruity Pebbles) the vanilla still gives me the taste of eating something sweet without the calories.
