hey just curious.... how do you guys cook your squash? I love squash, especially acorn squash. however, the only way i know how to cook acorn squash is in the oven in a pan with water in it. not only is this a slight pain in the ass, but i cant really cook that AND my chicken or salmon in the oven at the same time.

is there any squash that people cook on the stove, like boil or whatever? is there any squash that is easier to cook in the stove and doesnt require you to fill the pan with water?

any new squash ideas appreciated.

Slice it, brush it with olive oil and spices and throw it on the grill. :thumb:

I put a little water in the bottom of a pan and cut the squash in half and put it in the pan facing up. I put some butter, cinnamon and splenda inside each half while it cooks.

are the nutrition facts of squash on fitday correct?

1/2 cup (mashed) = 42 calories, 11g carbs ?

seems low?

I do the same. With the cinnamon on it , its almost like a desert,I love the stuff!

I cut acorn squash in half and stuff it with a mixture of wild rice, brown rice, ground turkey, spinach and seasonings. Then bake it.

Too many people miss out on the greatness of grilling veggies. Heck, you can even throw them in some foil for a steamed effect. :thumb:

I take the Squash out of the bag, bring it over to the sink and wash it very carefully. I then toss it in the garbage because Squash tastes like shit.

Don't hate. :)

so i guess everyone pretty much bakes or grills it?

i dont have a grill so that rules out that idea (although i am going to try it next time i'm grilling at a friend's house)

does anybody boil squash or cook it on the stove somehow? I like to cook my meals all at once, and it's easier to have something cooking on the stove and something in the oven at the same time.

I'm gonna have to try that one, that sounds really good. What kind of seasonings do you use?

Do you have a george Formean Grill? I love veggies cooked on that thing.

Hmm I used to... i forgot about that thing. I think I'll pick one up.

steam it. cut it in to 3/4 to 1in sized "medallion" peices and put it over boiling water with your steamer insert if you have one.

ahh now there's an idea. now which kind of squash would you do this with? or would it work with most kinds?

Have you ever had frozen squash? Yuck, that is gross. I had it on Christmas for the first time...and my last time.

I like summer squash, but i'm sure it would work with all types.

Cool thanks ReelBigFish, I'll give that a try.
