I do a full Olympic training routine that includes squats. This is 3 times per week. That is not to mention the Cleans and Snatches which also incorporate squats.
On the in between days I run anywhere from 3-14 miles depending on where I am in my training cycle.
My legs are fine, as a matter of fact, they are better than they have ever been!!
I would go for it if I were you. See what you can withstand. Remember to eat alot becaue it will drain you quickly. Look at Tour De France cyclsists, They can go insane distances everyday and they are fine.
