OK,

since I work out at home and don't have a "rack" I can only do squats with what I can hoist(???Spelling??) over my head.. then when done hoist back.... What i was thinking of doing is using about 125lbs and doing Step ups.. I have a platform that is about 15" high....

Any Opinions??? Good, Bad..... ???

The one thing I notice and watch carefully with any heavy leg exercise is stability. With squats you remove the bar from the rack and immediately get STABLIZED. Me being old and broken in the back I would never do a step up with heavy weights. Too much transferring of the weight from one leg to the other.

Why not just do the squats when you've hoisted the weight up to your shoulders as in a front squat. Front Squat

If you're going to do a step up go light. Unless you're one big MoFo already. Step Up

Be safe and save that back.

I know that the football team at my skool trains with stepups and they work well. To me sounds like a good idea to try.

lunges and step-ups would work just try your best to keep really good form:thumb:

doing step ups with the bb on yours shoulders you will progress to the point of being unstable and you risk a stumble imo...did this myself and scared the crap out of me... changed the BB to two DBs at my side ... much better...also started with a 7" step...they say close the a 90 deg bend at the knee is best so progress to the 15"
good luck

Hmmm, I think I said this very same thing to you ;) I'd 'clean' the bar up to a front squat.

I did squats today. I just love it when you try to drive when your down doing squats and you have a hard time driving when you leave.
