squats vs leg press

right guys basically i have been training around 3 years now and spent my whole time lifting at a crappy what i can only describe as "fitness gym" lack of machines and and rubbish equpiment surrounded by people who are your average joes leads to a pretty shit atmosphere to work out in!

yes i am kicking myself for not joining a proper gym earlier!!:shooter::shooter::shooter:

but whats important is i have changed this now and joined a proper gym with great equiptment and people who bodybuild seriously i feel inspired to workout now!

yeah any way i broke my right knee in a motorbike crash when i was knocked off my 650 before i started training and broke a bone in my left foot aswell.

my old gym had basically a power rack which was the best thing they had and a quad extension machine and a machine for hamstrings thats it!:shooter: yeah laugh it up!!

but anyway new gym has loads of leg equpitment hack squat machine leg press ect..

Yeah so when i am squatting apart from worrying about my knee i keep getting a pain in my lower back u think this is due to weak core strength? or form? because basiclly when i used this proper leg press machine today when doing legs i could near enough press double the weight on the pres compared with sqauts with no discomfort in my lower back?

i dont wanna drop squats due to my bad knee as its one of the big 3! but feel im gonna snap sum shit up if i keep doing them?

whats you guys think i should do?
 
when u squat, sit back,not down,and keep ur chest up

i was getting low back soreness too. its when u start leaning over too much


ull be ok. hack squat machines suck btw

they destroy my knees everytime,so i dont use it. i never get knee pain from squats

yeah thanks bro i dont get any discomfort in my knee when squatting its more a mental thing knowing i smashed up up in the past but yeah no discomfort from the knee but always on my lower back..

as far as the hack squat machine today was the first time ive used one felt weak as piss on it think its becasue i already done squats and leg press and also it was new to my body...

I would lower the weight on squats. If a lift hurts, especially your back, that's a red flag to take it easy.
It's difficult to give advice w/o seeing you squat, but a well executed squat should not be hard on the knees or back.
 
Truely sorry to hear you can't squat. It's the only movement I do for legs. Because this is all I do for legs, I don't use wraps cause I don't go super heavy, but I definetly can If my ego is feeling challenged. Form is all I cosentrate on, and yes this is the best muscle builder for your entire lower half. Tom Platz, R.I.P. Quadzilla, and all the huge legs put squat in the most valueable spot in there leg training.
 
Take some looks on youtube at proper squat form, and take video of your own then compare. Video is one of the best learning tools you could possibly use. I can hazard a guess and say that you probably suffer from butt wink. Which is to say that your pelvis tilts at the bottom of the lift due to poor flexibility.

Don't let the leg press get your ego up. Leg press is to squats as a transvestite hooker is to school girl virgin.

This^ yeah you feel strong doing leg presses and many people do them because they are easy. They are good ego strokers but you never will be as strong as if you are doing properly executed squats.

i will ask somebody who knows what they are doing at the gym if they can spare a min to check out my form.. if not yeah il take a video cmon i really dont belive the comparison between the 2 are that bad lol! not letting anything get my ego up man its the first time ive been on a proper leg press machine i was just surprised that i could almost double the weight and reps!

i like having my ego stroked sometimes i just sit and purrr like a cat....but yeah i know what you are saying i know squats are one the best exercises you can do period which is why i really wanna get this issue sorted i dont wanna snap some shit up man!!
