I have found lately that the bar really makes my neck sore. Is there anything I can do to make that more comfortable there?

Try a towel, or a bar pad or they now make a device that attaches to the bar and looks like a "stingray" but I can't think of the name of it. Anyone think of it?

I NEVER use those things...they make you lose the feel of the bar...my suggestion is to rest the bar on your upper traps...not your neck...you'll get used to it:)

My suggestion is suck it up....squats are not supposed to feel good.......j/king

I use a bar pad. I bought my own and take it with me because the ones at the gym suck and do move around alot. Mine doesn't and I don't want the marks or the pain on my traps :p

don't be one of those pussys using a pad, place the bar lower on the traps instead of the neck. You should be doing that anyway.

Well I'd suggest to bring the bar a little lower on the traps. If you can't take that pain then use a bar pad if you must. I'm not into all the macho stuff so I'd use one if it hurt that bad that it effected my workout. It's not the case so I don't use one.

I agree. I use a bar pad as well. $10 at The Sports Authority. It's all about comfort. Who gives a fuck if anyone else likes it or not? Go with whatever makes you comfortable.

Does sound like you have the bar too high on your neck. You will get used to it also!

You could try something basic - I found an old piece of air-conditioner pipe insulation in my garage and use that, works quite well. You still get get the feeling of holding the bar, it's just a bit softer :)
