Sorry, I should know better...it really is nobody's business why Game is not modding any more, but there's no reason to lie about being asked again

In an attempt to get back to the original subject I think there's some confusion as to what "assistance" is given by belts and knee wraps. They provide support to joints NOT muscles. If you can't lift 500 pounds without them you can't lift it WITH them either. The belts and knee wraps only provide support to the joints and therefore an extra safety measure during those lifts, they are not doing the lifting. With that in mind, the analogy about the rubber band attached to the ceiling is comparing apples to oranges.

.

Once you get up to 500 pounds or so, there ain't very much spring in those wraps.....

Good point, no argument from me. BUT.......as body builders, we shouldn't be using them the same way power lifters do. They should only serve as support to the joints as an extra measure of protection against injury. They should NOT take any stress off the working muscles. That would contradict the purpose of lifting the weight in the first place.

I agree with thegame 2001. I also use wraps when using heavy weights in the 3-5reps because it puts a lot of stress on the knees.

Maybe the reason mesofreaky is so much against lifting with belts and knee wraps is because he has never got under a 500 lb squat and felt the pain all the way down to the bone. There is NO WAY IN HELL that a pair of wraps and a belt are going to lift 500 lbs for you. You have to have the intensity and power to move that f**kin weight your damn self, and if not, your askin to get killed.. Plain and simple, wraps and belts help to protect your back and knees
