I quit sports/running about 6 years ago. Since then I have lifted weights but basically done no cardio. Im skinny and was trying to gain weight.

I realize now how horrible my cardio is and am trying to get back into sports. I started smoking 6 years ago as well.

So basically my question is how often can I train cardio, everyday? And does anyone know after quitting smoking and beggining cardio training is it possible to get my lungs back? I am thinking of stopping weight lifting completely for the next 2 weeks and going all into cardio to get ready for some leagues I signed up for that start in sept.

Any help?

Ex-heavy-smoker-here,

YES, you WILL get your lungs back.. maybe not 100% but the lungs will clear up themselves and they'll start rebuilding and regulating mucus release as you train and work them up. It's a lengthy process, but proper exersice, breathing, and nutrition will make it happen..

Knowledge is power.. research your goals well, work hard, and your body will respond.. nothing can stop you!

AmDevil said it 100%, also and ex heavy smoker... and you will definately get most of your lungs back!! I remember even my first week after quitting, I noticed a difference, but now after almost 2 years it's just amazing how much more endurance I have!

I wish you the best of luck! and have some fun :D

What kind of leagues are you in (what sport are you playing)? Also, what type of cardio do you do?

I'm interested to hear what different athletes do for their cardio.
