What is the best way to gain strength but not size or is it even possible?

The only way of strength training that I know is the 5x5 routine and it works fine but I would like to know of some others.

And this is more of a nutrition question but is it possible to gain strength when you are below your maintenance calories?

Below maintenance you can indeed get stronger. I've done it.

You want to get stronger but not bigger: monitor your calories and your weight like a hawk. Do not eat enough to gain weight, and you won't get bigger. The laws of thermodynamics are funny that way.

K.
I am on a cut now and doing pretty good but I love training for strength and was wondering if I should still do it or switch up routine, but since you said that I'm going to keep it.

Also what is the best set/rep range I have see 6/4, 5/5, 10/1 and so on. Does it matter which one you chose as long as you are pushing yourself to your limits?

Yanno, a powerlifter friend of mine does Wendler's 5-3-1. Maybe try that.

^You're awesome!

That routine looks good but can't use now cause can't do squats heavy cause dont have rack and for deadlifts I can already do 310lbs 3 times and that's all my weights lol.

If you want, read gazhole's strength training journal, lots of substance there.
