I guess it depends on how you view it. for me, i can't vote for someone who doesn't share my beliefs. I don't feel my vote was wasted on Ron Paul in the primaries and Gary Johnson in the general election. it's about standing on principal. if more and more people do this it'll send a message to the two parties that their losing support and need to change their views.

I view it from the reality perspective.

nope, don't think so, at least Obama is wasting US money on itself, and not useless wars oversees.
because of the wars my wallet is fat..True story.

as many are but as a whole the defense industry roughly employees the same amount of people as manufacturing, just in different locations.

waring does nothing except transfer tax dollars to a unproductive market in the global economy, the way it always has been.

More profit for those closest to the point of currency issuance (i.e defense, FIRE sector, etc.) while the de-industrialization of the real economy takes away from those that labor on the low end of the income ladder. another long term effect of lobbying and allowing private monies into the US election cycle.

Neither will electing an independent, even tho it will never happen.

You don't need to elect an independent, you just need to give an independent enough of the vote that it costs one party the election and they adopt more of the views of the independent. The problem is the GOP got their assess handed to them and their response is they aren't getting their message out loudly enough. It's not that the message isn't getting heard, it's that it's a shitty message. Everyone believes people should work for what they get until it comes to taking away whatever entitlement they are personally taking, then it's bullshit. Americans aren't anti-entitlement, they're just against paying for them.

I am not doing anything except eventually moving to Panama, this country is fucked.

it would change nothing at all as it has no effect on how capital effects US election cycles. both party's have moved further to the right since the 70's as that is where the money is since not many of the working class people (medium-low skilled) workers have any. one need only look at the major differences between the US and other republics to see where the problems lie.

one of the problems with all politicians in the US is that none of them really talk about the long term and short term problems. new problems (like low wages & regressive taxation) would obviously be easier to fix then say "getting rid of the FED" and other fantasy's that some have.

Right, and I plan on "retiring" in Panama, I will have all the money I need and Panama is a tax haven. No income tax, no sales tax, no property taxes, etc. I have given up on this country's government and I can't stand the injustices and corruption.

I have been to.Panama before....im guessing its looking a bit more chipper then.when i was there...im thinking Cost Rica maybe...

if the powers that be would actually use the economic information from say the FED, OECD, ILO, IMF, etc. it would be painfully easy to show the direct correlation between recent events (past 3-4 decades) and changes in the US economy.

obviously this would be with a political system that was looking to actually solve some problems, the opposite of what we have in the US today which is basically 1%'ers that only work for their own self-serving interests. The ones that aren't 1%'er when they go into office leave that way when the go work for the private sector as lobbyists, etc. "earning" 400-500K a year. that's when they really reap the rewards of "public service".

and I say easy as compared to say getting rid of the FED or going back to gold, etc. Everything is pretty much spelled out in the data along with the book called "Limits to Growth" which was released in the 70's. it shows how the US went in the exact opposite direction it needed to go in terms of building a sustainable economy for all to enjoy.

Costs rica has become expensive since Americans have been buying up land. I was there in 01 and 08 and the jump in the price of homes was incredible.
